I added 2 cabinets to the rear garage area over the window where it was just empty space. I don't know why there wasn't any shelves or storage cabinets installed along this wall.
The cabinets I purchased from Lowe's and were unfinished, all I did was lightly sand, stained and finished them to match the other cabinets and added a door strut, a catch and a handle. Each cupboard is 30" long X 18" tall X 12" deep, with one door and were made to stand vertical. I just laid them on there side and the internal shelf I screwed in-place for extra center support so they don't bow in the center with any heavy weight. I screwed them at the top of the side wall and into the ceiling using 2" screws. The studs in the wall and ceiling are on 16" centers.
The whole cost was about $175 to add 2 more kitchen cabinets to fill the empty 5 foot space.
