Looks like you broke through the veneer / luan? Not sure from your pictures, but can you access the back side of that damage?

If so, I think I'd paint the back with wood glue then paint the front with Old English scratch cover for dark woods.

Filler and stain won't match the woodgrain pattern.

OR if you do want to try to match the stain, pull out a drawer that is the same shade and take it with you to the hardware store.

the spot is right under the sink right on the corner, it would be hard to cover it up with something. the back of the area just behind the dent/hole is covered up but i have not looked yet to see if that inside section can be remover easily i will check tomorrow.

Cabinet Color

If possible, check to see how that panel is affixed. Seriously consider removing the panel and replacing it, if it's even possible. To obtain a "satisfactory" repair/patch requires an expert in furniture repair and will be costly. Based on the composition, color and finish this is a difficult repair and challenging to the expert in order to blend it in as though it never happened. To dodge that bullet you might consider, as someone has already suggested, applying a decorative accent over the damaged area. This type of damage is just how I make my living. Good Luck!

As a retired carpenter, wood filler won't stain like real wood. If I filled it brush stain on leave till dry. After it dries I would then take coarse artist brush dipping just tips in black paint that has been thinned..Tap the brush on paper to take some of the paint out lightly brush on to make grain.

I think I will try to patch it like you just stated and see how it comes out if that does not work then I will look in to replacing that section. I going to call nicks cabinets they are the ones that made them and try to find the right color match
