FR Lack of Quality and Service

My trailer is only two years old and the countertops throughout the trailer are delaminating. The dealer I purchased the trailer from contacted Mike Rodriguez from FR about the issue on 11/9/16 and CCed me in the email. As of yesterday there has been no response from FR. I emailed him myself and have yet to get a response. Not only am I annoyed this is happening with only a two year old trailer, but I am more annoyed the FR doesn't even care enough to respond. I am not sure another FR product will be purchased by this household if this lack of quality and customer service continues. To completely ignore customers concerns about quality issues shows how little the company cares.

I'm sorry to hear that your having issues with your FR product.

We had a few issues that were/are much more serious in nature and the Wildcat division of Forest River has bent over backwards in correcting the matters.

Maybe a phone call will produce better results than an email.

Are the counter tops delaminating or is only the edge banding coming off. If it is the edge banding it in not really a quality issue I believe the the edge band is shrinking.
And the glue not holding.

Just fix it yourself and get back on the road.

We purchased a new 2016 Georgetown GT3, and it had many quality issues. I called FR, and they said there were 15 Georgetown made per day, and only one was inspected...I guess we got one that wasn't inspected! Obviously, FR is making big bucks, so they don't mind paying for repairs. We will never purchase a FR product again!

Likely not the edge band shrinking but the pressboard is expanding. Its the reason the dinette tables warp. Put a straightedge on the formica tops of a dinette table or smaller cabinets with their own small top. The pressboard expands from humidity and the laminate does not. They use the pressboard because its half the cost, as its certainly not much less in weight than true particle board, which is what should be used for a laminate top.

That is probably why they are going to solid surface counters such as in the newest Rockwood Roos and Minilites. Probably a lot of warranty claims.

A little glue some blue tape to hold the molding in place let sit for 24 hours. Send FR an email tell them you fixed it yourself and tell you would be more than happy to explain the meaning of customer service.
Now have a beer and relax.

You will get the same response from every manufacturer. If you can't get it to your selling dealer, fix it yourself. The 12 month warranty will have expired anyway if you've owned it for 2 years. If you purchased extended warranty Forest River will not be the ones paying so contact your extended warranty company. The FR rep probably just doesn't want to have to explain the reality of warranty again to another customer. It's one of those conversations that has no way of having a happy ending.

De lam.

I have a 2016 EVO 280RKS and the table top de lamed after 2-3 weeks. Back to dealer and he just gave me one out of an other unit. Said they were having probs with the glue holding. So far, no more issues. Said it was from heat in closed- up trailer. Have had other issues, but all+ all ,very happy with unit, though just went to check water heater anode+ got a white water bath!!! Would not have thought it would still have pressure with pump off+ not on city water for 3 weeks. Guess next time I will open the faucets first!!!
Live+ Learn, I hope!!

Have a good day+ I hope you get results from FR soon--

I agree 100% with your opinion on the content of threads such as this.
My feelings about the purpose of a forum is that it is a place to discuss the good and the bad. However the key word being "discuss" and not rant and bash.

The forum seems to be very valuable when owners provide information on how to resolve problems, especially on specific units.

New owners, at times, probably feel like they got hit with a sledge hammer and need to vent. Eventually, some people figure out what is going on and get better at dealing with reality.

The Gerber RV downward spiral articles seem to become truer day by day.

That article became true about 2011 when these manufacturers were starting to come out of the recession.

Go to Lowes and/or Home Depot to see if they have a matching band. My 1st choice would be to remove and replace. Before you try the tape/glue method you may want to try to re-apply simply by running a warm iron over it. Be careful not to burn it as it will leave a brown mark if you do.

That is some thing that caught my eye when we looked at the Apex. Their one-piece seamless countertop stain resistant, light weight, no T-mold helps prevent water damage which we really like

I will never bye a forest river product again yes they have very poor costumer service at least for the Evo side of there corporation. Front my trailer noise section came apart due missed screws or missing screws on the assembly line. Even with the pics and repair shop stating this as well they told me in so many words that's to bad nothing we can do your trailer is two years old.

EVO

cpfdmiller, do you still have pics of the trailer? Would like to know what I am up against in time.
2016 EVO 280RKS and have not had any large problems. Lights falling off ceiling, low hot water,WDH almost braking from not adjusted, underside not sealed for beans. Few other things, but got sick of going back to dealer, and just fixed them my self.
Do you still have the trailer and did you get it fixed? People should not have to go through B.S. like that after paying the money the think these trailers are worth.
Sorry for your problems and hope they are willing to compensate you!!!
