need help selecting a Generator for EVO

I am thinking of getting a small portable generator for my EVO T2360 travel trailer to run a coffee maker, charge the TT batteries, watch TV and play DVD player as well as run lights. All lights in my TT are L.E.D. I am thinking of getting a 2000 watt Generator. I don't want to buy a honda or one of those because of the expense, and we won't be dry camping that much. Won't be using the AC either. I have seen several, but how do you hook them to the trailer. most only have a 110 duplex outlet. do you use a adapter that converts your RV cord to a normal plug for plugging into a duplex outlet on the generator? I am thinking of getting a cheap sportsman 2000 watt non inverter type. What do you use? what do you recommend. The sportsman is $169 and a WEN is $179 both are non inverter types. THe inverter types are $500 or more.
Thanks for your input and any advise.

This topic has been discussed many times on this forum.
A search will bring up thousands of previous suggestions.

For what you mentioned, a smaller wattage generator would be fine.

Unless you plan to camp on private ground, a non-inverter generator (even a small one) will be too loud for approved use.

Yes, the cord can be plugged into the 15/20a outlet on the generator with an adapter.

A descent generator will have a 30 amp receptacle. The generators you have listed will most likely be loud and obnoxious. If you want to be cheap, buy a Ferman inverter generator.

If you plan on using the generator in a campground, NEITHER generator is appropriate. NO open frame contractor-style generator is appropriate for use in a campground.

Those style of generators are fine for boondocking in non-developed areas, like deserts, motor races and national forests.

A Champion 2000w inverter generator can be bought for under $500. Look for refurbished units.

Costco has an 2000 watt (1,600 watt running) iPower generator with a Chinese Yamaha engine in it. I bought one previously when it was called SmartPower for use at our cabin and it is just fine. The new version allows you to connect 2 generators with a parallel cord. They are $499 new right now.

I agree with those suggesting you'll not like the noise of the non inverter noisy open frame units. I owned a Harbor Freight Predator 2000W for a short while and loved it. Quite, easy to start and would run everything except the AC which in the only reason I traded it back in for a predator 3500W. Watch the HF sales and you can find them on sale for $399. You could also look at Champion but either way you'll not regret spending the extra for a quite running inverter gen.

Get a inverter generator, the others are too noisy and use a lot more fuel.

The Energizer 2,000 watt inverter generator is on sale at Cabela's on Saturday for $379.00 You can see reviews of it on YouTube. Very similar to the Honda in size, design, noise, etc..

--Or--

Sams Club has a Sportsman 1,000 watt (which is all you need for what you specified) for only $198.. Or the 2,000 watt model for $394.. You can view and order on-line. Great return policy. It is worth joining if you are not a member already.

That Energizer generator is a Chinese made one that has been made with many different brands on them and in various colors.
They are all virtually the same and have been around for at least 5-6 years.
They aren't parallel capable.

I was just picked up a Champion 3500 inverter. Did a bunch or research and decided for us, Champion was the best bang for the buck. I've heard thier customer service was really good too. The price of the Champions compared to the blue and red brands can't be beat.

Problem solved

I bit the bullet and got a NEW YAMAHA EF2000ISV2 for $689 I figured that was a pretty good deal from a company in Washington state. Free shipping and no sales tax. I debated between it and a EU2000i Honda for $50 more. I spent more than I wanted, but was unsure of the 2000 watt WEN that I almost bought. I was worried about getting repairs and parts for a wen so passed it up. Hope I made the right decision. Everyone can now be happy since I did not get a frame generator but a much quieter inverter Generator. should be here in about 7 or 8 days.

Purchased the WEN 2000 inverter last year and have been very pleased. Used it extensively last summer at Smoky Mt. NP and ran like a dream. Just as quiet as the yamaha at the next site.

Generator Update

Well the Yamaha Generator was a scam, So I got my Money Back from PayPal. I ended up buying a iPower SUA2000i which is a Yamaha Clone. Even the Yamaha Parts will fir the Sinci engine. It is very quiet and runs smooth. I am very happy with it. Starts up every time with 1 or 2 pulls on the recoil starter. has 20 amp Receptacle and a 30 amp twist lock receptacle which only works if paired with another generator. It comes with the Parallel Cables and a 30 amp rv adapter. Spark plug wrench and a funnel for adding oil. I got mine at Sam's Club for $389. Must have got the last one because they are now out of stock. Walmart, Costco, Home Depot and other major stores sell them. Shipping is free and 4 to 10 days. I got mine in 5.
