I'm assuming it's 30 amp. Progressive Industries is what you will find most people recommending. Either way, don't just go with a surge protector, get a unit that protects against anything. High voltage, low voltage, bad grounds, etc. A surge protector won't help against those common problems.

Hands down, Progressive Industries EMS. Hard wired if possible to prevent theft. Or, like turbs did his. Hard wired / removable.

Still liking the Franks Autotransformer.

Saved my bacon last night (AGAIN) with huge power fluctuations due to the storms; kept the DW's Dialysis Cycler humming right along even as we had momentary brown outs as low as 100 volts.

See the review in the product review section.

The EMS would have just shut it off; Franks kept voltage in the 117 volt range.

We have the Franks autoformer as well. Bought it in 2007 and been working good since. Hadn't used it in a while though. Only thing ems does not do is the boost feature that the Franks has.

Herk, do you have yours hard wired or use it at the pedestal? Would be interested to see if you made some sort of cover for it if at the pedestal. I used to have a Tupperware bin modified for this.

See my product review for the semi-permenant install in a cabinet.
Added two volt meters and an incoming ammeter as well.

Running a progressive unit here also. If you use an inverter genny, be sure to make yourself a ground plug otherwise unit will not allow power thru.

Herk, I think I have seen the photo/diagram of that plug from you. Can you re-post it?
