The Mod That Shouldn't Be

EVO T2460 - The handle on the bathroom door crashes into the refrigerator. All it took was a simple $1.50 door stop. Come on Forest River!

I noticed that too when we looked at the 2460. I was thinking a rubber cap for the handle, but your idea is way more subtle...and cheaper too.

It was pointed out during the inspection and the service agent also suggested a rubber bumper. I had two thoughts:. 1. Why hasn't this already been addressed, and 2. the fact that it hasn't means I would rather not trust it to him.

Yep- I put a felt button on the door handle on ours to keep from slamming into the cabinets. Why do we need to fix all these stupid and common sense items?

As anyone who has spent months, and sometimes years, designing something on paper can tell you; "stuff happens" when it hits the manufacturing floor.

By then (unless it is a show stopper), it just gets built as designed. There just is no time to halt production and run out and buy several thousand door stops.

If some one on the floor sees the problem, it "may" get up channeled to the design folks for resolution on the next year's model. Then again, "The not invented here" or "not your job" glitch may keep "the fix" out of next year's model too.

This is not an RV industry problem, it is a universal problem.

UPDATE: The the stopper on the door is not enough. While it keeps the door from hitting the fridge, it does not protect the fridge door when it is opened and the door is partially open. A felt chair leg pad on the door handle is needed also.
