Dash mounting accessories and electronics

I may be using all the wrong search words but I can't seem to find any info on creative ways to mount accessories on the curved dash of the 2018 38C. Sticky pads are OK for the small stuff but I want to add the dash cam, iPad pro 12" and a few other things.

Any ideas?

I didn't find much either. I googled it and found this idea.
One thing that helps is using quotation marks when searching the forum.

Ok who did it?

I can’t imagine how you got a picture of my windshield!

Thanks for the tip it still nada. The dash has a big slope away from the driver and is padded. I may have to build some kind of platform or such.

hahaha, great pic. My dash cam is on a suction mount to the glass between rear view and windshield, out of the way. I would seriously recommend NOT having a 12 inch tablet within view or use, it is a serious distraction. I speak from experience of having a laptop mounted in my police car. Not only is it a view obstruction, but I nearly crashed more than once because of it before I got smart and kept the screen closed most of the time driving. Can't afford to be distracted driving ANY vehicle must less a rig.

I mounted my TPMS on the side window with the suction mount. I mounted my break controller on the driver panel to the left of the seat near the LBCU control switch and I mounted my IPhone on the right dash with one of Nite Ize mount. Google it, they have lots of options. Amazon, of course

I am guessing that pic is a gag. And I hope they would get a well deserved ticket if it wasn't!

Yes, it's a gag. Found the pic on the inter web. Here is a link to the Nite Ize mounts.

Great stuff you folks. Been there done that with the PD thing. Georgia GSP/GBI in my wayward and mis-spent youth back in 1975-1983 but your point is certainly one that should be well observed by all.

Anyhow back to the dash mounting. The dash is padded and slopes rather dramatically down as it spans to the front. Trying not to mess up that padding if possible. The 12" is for the navigator and would not be facing the driver at any point. Additionally the unit is used to access additional cameras that are mounted on the coach when we want them on for security and checking clearances.

Still LOVE that picture. They even took time to attach cables to every one.

Can't say how they came up with the "38C" as it is actually 40 feet. Marketing I guess.

I am a big fan of sticky tape Velcro... I buy it at Walmart sewing area... comes in rolls of something like 10 feet for 2 inch wide stuff...

I stick the loop part to areas of the dash, then stick the hook part to the back of whatever I want on the dash...

3 inches of tape with only about 1/2 " of velcro available will hold my 7 inch tablet just fine.

my TST monitor, my iphone and a 7" tablet all stick onto areas of the dash... when done just pull them off...

D,
You're lucky you were in before all the electronics. Between all the cameras, GPS, computers, sucked the fun out of the job.

rddata, I love velcro too. Thanks for the tip about Walmart sewing section. Buying it online from Amazon is a rip. Only bad thing about it in the car (more patrol car experience, lol)is the adhesive gets gooey and soft in the heat of the parked car and eventually seems to come off.

that has NOT been my experience, but then again I don't live in the southwest...

mine has stuck fine for going on 2 1/2 years now... I did cover my dashboard with a custom carpet product made for this purpose (J.C.Whitney catalog) and it keeps me dash even in full sunlight cooler then if it is uncovered... but then again the velcro tape on the dash panel faces out toward the seats and is not in the direct sun... plus it is mostly plastic and not the older metal that dashboards used to be made of...

using drink cup holder

I found that the round base included with my Dill Air TPMS system, fit perfectly inside one of the multiple molded drink holders in my central console in my Forester. It is secure, out of the way, close to the accessory plug-in and easily removable when I want to put it out of sight. I could have chosen to adhere it to the dash or windshield but I like this location much better
