Engine Access?
Anyone with ideas or experience with engine access from below the bed? Look closely at the photo, you see the access panel is crossed by two 115V cables. Am I missing something? The only way I see of removing the access panel is to cut the cables and installing a junction box to reconnect them.

Are those the two 110v lines that feed the breaker box at the foot of the bed? I never looked at it all that close, but I always thought the engine access was through the hatch in what is the rear bath in mine, with transmission access through the hatch under the bed. Not sure where things would be on other than the 360RB, though.

I believe that is their function. I have not traced them yet. Not sure why they were routed that way.

Okay, 60 some odd views and no suggestions? Off to Lowes for a junction box and splicers.

I have yet to pull my engine access hatch. What was the outcome of your wire reroute? Looks simple but I am surprised they would do that at FR. I'm thinking of pulling the hatch in the next week or two just for the heck of it. Easier to do at home than on the road in a fidget to fix something.

Fixed
I rerouted the cables and installed junction boxes to protect the splices.
Yes, I was surprised to see this from FR.

I will clean it. Several folks have commented on that fact. Okay, I give up. It will be cleaned. I invite folks to post photos of their engine bays at the end of a summers travel so I can have an example of how it should look.

Nice job, I'll be copying in the next few days. I would flip out if I had discovered this while getting a repair of some sort done on the road. Just rummaged through my electrical stash, looks like I have plenty on hand to manage the job.

Thanks again for discovering this and posting. I would have went into some kind of a titherdither if this had been discovered on the road with some service being required. At most Cummins dealers, labor is 150/hr. or so, and I would not like to be paying for someone to deal with that rather than working on our engine. Fixed mine today, totally copied what you did. I would love to have coffee with the wiring tech. at FR and just ask why the hell would anyone run wires right across the engine hatch. I would just love to hear what's up.
I am happy with the design of the hatch and ease of removal, etc. I have friends with very high end coaches that have to dismantle closets and cabinets to even get to theirs.
I even cleaned my engine while I was at it, getting ready to some major summer travel.
Safe travels

Engine bay sparkle
Engine looks great. I'm guessing most if not all have this wiring issue.
Glad to help out.
