Legacy door shock replacement

The wind grabbed my door and the shock that keeps it from slamming broke at the floor mount.

Any idea where I can get one and a part number?

Same here.... So obviously the hardware is not strong enough to deal with wind.

Most rigs use the same shock and they are easy to find. The plastic ends are made to fail first so the door is not destroyed which is what would happen if the shock did not fail. They are not designed to hold against opening quickly with wind.

All the lifts I am finding have the large ends that will not fit under door when closed. Does anyone have a part number for a part that worked? Thanks!

Our 2014 just has the mechanical latch.

Here is a link to ebay for the shocks. Notice they have every possible strength available, I recommend either the 20 lb. (at the very top), or the 10 lb. I carry a couple spares just in case and this is where I bought them last time.

We have a 2014 and was told today that I would need to order a new door to get the strut to work.

In that case the manual latch is looking good.

Ahhh, that makes sense. We bought a pr-owned 2014 Legacy about a month ago. Couldn't figure out why there was no catch on the outside of the door and the motorhome to A) Keep the door from banging and B) keep the door open. I installed magnetic catch unit to solve these.

Does the gas strut attach to the pin on the bottom of the door frame? Anyone have a picture of this for reference?

Yes, the gas strut just pops onto the ball on the door and door frame. Very simple to install and remove. This is a very common door and door frame for many motorhomes.
