'Let There Be Light' - Headlight Project Success

I know the Legacy headlights have been known for poor light production, so I took on the project to re-light the Legacy, using lights from The Retrofit Source.

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/XB...ack?quantity=1

They were very much plug and play, and look and perform amazing! They only require a wire tap for the Daytime Driving Lights (DRL), which are optional.
I highly recommend this kit for any Legacy owners still suffering from poor lighting. My lights were highly oxidized and needed refurbished or replaced anyhow.

I just ordered their replacement fog lights which will match, and offer the same “White Light” ... my drivers fog light has water in the lens so it's ready for replacement anyhow.

Sorry about the orientation of the pics... I can't figure out how to rotate them?

Cheers

Yes, they were expensive, but these are true professional grade projector LED's, not the aftermarket stuff you find on Ebay. Just the stock OEM replacements were about $250, and I'd be stuck with the same poor performance.

I see that your lights are DOT/Fmvss approved.
I just failed a VA state inspection because the LED headlights in my Hummer H2 were not stamped with the DOT logo. I guess its the difference between $690 lights and $60 lights!!!

Wow, really looks nice. We almost never drive at night and a couple times when we had to the lights were so dim I could hardly tell they were on. Great job.

THat looks great. I've wrestled with this since we bought the coach back in 2015. The link to the lights you bought doesn't work. Would you mind posting the model number. Thanks

Here's a fresh link for the headlights. I purchased mine on the clearance rack and they have some visible glue inside (hence the discount) but if I never point it out, it will never be seen. I also recently added the matching Morimoto fog lights and they look and perform equally well.

Which fog lights by Morimoto fit the Legacy? Were they plug and play or did u have to modify? Thanks.

Tmartin,
I used these: https://www.theretrofitsource.com/gm...GMC?quantity=1
I had to re-drill the mounting plate and add a spacer.... took about 10 minutes per side to remove, modify, and replace. They are wonderful, and look great too.

These look AMAZING.
Last trip, and our first big trip, found ourselves in the Rockies, at night, literally stopped because I thought the lights had shorted out. First a new tankless, next these!!!! Thanks!

May I ask, how did you figure out these will fit the Legacy? Just looking to learn, thanks again!

Aing099,
From my research I found that the legacy used 2007 to 2013 Silverado headlights, so that’s where my search began. Knowing the difference between cheap knock off headlights like you can buy on eBay, and high-quality high-performance headlights, I started looking for either HID or LED projector lights which led me to the Retrofit Source. What I was so happy with was not only did the housing fit perfect, but the wiring harness was 100% plug and play. The fog lights took only the smallest modification to the mounting bracket to have them fit perfectly also.
Just back from a 3500 mile adventure, and can confirm that I am still very pleased with these headlights and fog lights, and, I do like the daytime driving light feature.

Hi, the link for the headlights doesn't seem to work anymore. Do you have a part number? These look great!

I think troybuz purchased his lights on clearance so the link may be expired. The older legacy used the Chevrolet Silverado lights. 2007-2013. Don’t buy the halo lights as they clearly don’t work. I did stock oem lights on mine and they worked fine. Troybuz did an led upgrade of the same light and also got good results. Any replacement lights for the 2007-2013 Silverado will fit the cutout and the electrical connector. The original halo lights had an extra power wire that I cut and caped. Changing these out solved the nighttime driving problem.
