2016 Cherokee Wolf Pup 16BHS

We need a lite trailer for weekend trips for our family of 3. Want to pull it behind our 2016 Ford Explorer. Is this a good fit for us?

As long as the explorers towing capacity can handle it, yes! I pull my 2015 16bhs with a Jeep wrangler unlimited with a 3500# towing capacity. I use a Harbor Freight equalizer hitch and sway bar. Pulls great and even handled a recent blow out like a champ!

We are 4 with me, DW and two DD ages 10 & 7. And a 25# dog. We love it for weekends and up to 5 day trips. Works great for us. I even let my friend with 4 kids use it and they like it.

Regarding the blow out, the tires on mine are only a C load rating which puts the tire capacity at 3590# which is really close to the trailer max. If I were buying a new one, I'd make it a "walk away" negotiating item that they put D rated tires on it (4100# capacity for the pair). I haggled them down to just under $11k for mine. Good luck

I think so. We recently just purchased a 2017 16BHS and we are towing it with a 2013 Explorer Limited. We have a weight distribution hitch, but the TT tows just fine. Gas milage has taken a hit to about 10.5 MPG, but I always feel like I have plenty of power. We are a family of 4 and while there is not an abundance of space, we think that we have plenty of room.

It wasn't as bad as I thought. The trailer felt like it jumped and then bumped to the ground. I stopped pretty quick. It was pretty smooth considering.

Glad to hear of it. We bought the 185rb wildwood on a spur of the moment do didn't quite research the single axle blowout risk. I feel safer now with the Michelin 10 ply but I was worried about throwing my wrangler around if I should have a blow out

We just purchased a 2017 Wolf Pup16bhs and went camping last weekend. It was terrific. We are new to this so I can't add much except that we loved it and it is pulled with our Honda Pilot. We do have a weight distribution hitch and all seemed good. The Pilot didn't have a problem.

You might want to look at 2017 WOLF PUP 18TO, its a litte bit more weight but your getting so much more room.
