You can't cut into the night stand due to the storage underneath, however, if you put shelves in the wardrobe, you have an opportunity to knock out the plywood on the bottom and put a drawer in that would slide over the top of the night stand. You won't be able to do this and hang stuff though because the cabinet will not be tall enough. My plan is to keep the wardrobe on one side, put a drawer and shelves on the other and put a shelf in the overhead cabinets. I just have to find out what kind of wood it is so I can attempt to match it.
