Bathroom fan vent open for winter storage?

Hi all, going about winterizing my grey wolf 19sm up here in Canada. I’m wondering if anyone leaves their bathroom vent cover open a crack during winter storage. I have a roof vent cover. I’m wondering if it would allow trailer to ‘breathe’ or let in moisture I don’t want. Opinions please. Thanks

I've never left mine open. There shouldn't really be any sources of moisture in there, provided you don't have any leaks. Leaving it closed up should be fine.

We have owned 2 campers. I put vent covers on both and the only time the vents are closed is when I'm cleaning the roof. We put 4 damp rids in for winter and have never had water in any come spring. IMO, leaving the vent open with vent covers allows for airflow, the camper can always breath. Also, be sure to open all the cabinets and drawers, at least a crack. Allows air flow when there are temp swings that can allow moisture build up in closed spaces.

With maxxair covers on all the vents, they all stay open. Let it breathe!

We have covers over our vents and leave them cracked open all winter.

Used covers on our TT's since 2008. I've always left a couple windows cracked and roof vent cracked to allow for air flow in the TT. In the northern states, we don't have much humidity during the winter and moisture in the TT has never been a problem. I hang dryer sheets in the TT before I cover it and in the spring it has a nice fresh scent inside.

I monitor humidity in mine with remote sensor. I keep mine closed, and have desiccant type dehumidification once it gets cold (<40F). Humidity stays below 60%.

I have covers on both my vents and like others (I live in Michigan), I leave my vents cracked year round unless I'm cleaning the roof. The only thing I've really had an issue with is if the vents are left open too wide, I've gotten some leaves and dirt that get inside and on the vent screens and I just clean it up in the spring. I've also never had excess moisture in my TT at any point during the year.

Same as above, cracked open. Humidity has never been an issue for me.

I've never heard of anyone leaving theirs open. I just installed vent covers over mine this past summer but have always kept them closed in previous winters. Never really noticed a problem.

All I can say, I have yet to be in a camper that is air tight. ALL vents closed, windows closed, and two cans of damp rid. After years of use, my camper smells/feels like new every start of the season after months of storage.

it depends. on my 5er it was never covered, and it had a cover over the fantastic vent. I would leave that cracked open about 1" all the time.

but in my pickup camper it was covered with ADCO cover all winter, I always left everything shut anytime it was sitting (summer or winter).
I never noticed any one would be worse over winter storage than the other.

Currently my new MH that is in storage in FL is closed up tight. There can be wind driven rain events down here that can drive rain into any small open crack so its better to be safe than sorry I figure. the biggest thing down here is Sun.

pulling all shades down, and putting good sun screen in windshield seem to keep the temps down some inside coach when stored. its going under an enclosure (pipe/tarp type) once I build it.

X2. The winter air is pretty dry in our area, so moisture is not an issue. We also cover our trailer for the winter, but the cover breathes and the vents (covered by MaxxAirs) stay open.

We left ours cracked one year and had a mold farm spring up on the vents and screens. Been keeping them closed ever since. Even winters are humid in Virginia. The trailer stays drier closed up.

We have never kept our vent open over the winter - and in Calgary, we get all sorts of winter weather, from freakin' cold and lots of snow, to having a chinook come through and make it seem like we are getting spring earlier....only to have winter remind us that we don't get spring here...LOL

We've owned trailers for many years and have never kept any of the vents open over the winter - and have never had a moisture problem in any of our trailers.
