Cherokee Limited 304 BH

Just purchased a New off the lot 304 BH last week. When I arrived at the dealer they had the camper set up and we did a PDI and everything seemed to work great. I went inside to finish up paperwork as they got it ready to travel. It was snowing so I was in a hurry to get out of there and get it home before roads got to bad. The next day at home I had it hooked up to my truck in the driveway and ran the slideouts out in order to gain access to everything to do a thorough cleaning, wiping everything down, and vacuuming up all the little wood chips and stuff the slides will leave for a little while before we put it up for a few months. When running the slides out (2 in the living area across from each other with island in the middle and 1 in the bunkhouse) the slides did not go one at a time. The two in the main area seemed to alternate and then the one in bh didn't go until the other two were done moving. I never heard any clicking and the lips seemed to be rather tall inside. Is this normal for the newer slides? My older campers seemed to fit fairly close with a slight lip on the inside and always clicked several times when they were done opening. Just wanting to make sure these are getting all the way out and completely sealed when opening.

Not all slides click when opening and closing. The only ones I am aware of that do are the rack and pinion slides. If you are not sure what you have on your camper, I recommend locating the manuals you received if any or go online to determine. You may also be able to look at the outside of your slides or along the inside top to determine if you have a cable slide system. If you see a track on each side of the outside of your slides they would be gear driven, maybe a Swintec system.

After writing the paragraph above I found your model on RV trader and it looks like in the photos the you do have Rack and Pinion slides on all your slides. Normally once they completely open or close you hear a clicking noise and you should release the slide switch immediately upon hearing that sound.

They are the rack and pinion through frame slide out. My camper has one slide out button that I just hold down until all 3 slide outs are complete. Which is odd, older ones I have had always had separate buttons for each slide. At no point did I ever hear any clicking as to indicate even one slide was all the way. Once the rear slide in BH was what I assumed to be done I held button down for a few more seconds until lights started to dim so I let off. Something just seemed off but wasn't sure with the newer campers.

I am sure there is someone out there with the same set up that you have that will chime in. On our 5vr I have 3 slides and a switch for each. The build these things so many different ways for sure.

Possibly hydraulic slides?

Could they possibly be hydraulic slides? If you look under the slides when deployed, you will see shiny metal hydraulic pistons. There is one motor and pump for the system. When the pump starts pumping, the lightest slide (or slides) that requires the least pressure to move will deploy first. Once it (or they) are fully deployed, the next-easiest begins to move. Eventually all are deployed in order of difficulty.

It they don't all deploy, you could be low on hydraulic fluid. Be sure to have the slides fully retracted before adding fluid. Otherwise you will add too much and when the slides are retracted, the reservoir will overflow. Don't overfill the reservoir when filling.
