Correct Tire Pressure?

Hi,


Just bought a used 2017 Wolf Pup 16FQ. Sticker on trailer reads 50psi tire pressure. Just wondering if that 50psi is max psi or recommended psi for general use?

It's likely both. Trailer tires are meant to be run at max psi.

50psi max when COLD. Always check the tire sidewall "cold psi" to be sure the previous owner didn't change the tires to a different load range from what the sticker on the travel trailer says.

Your tires are probably C-load/ LRC , wich carry maxload AT 50 psi.
And on trailers this AT-pressure is prescribed.
But its always better to let me calculate a safe pressure for you. For that hive GAWR and GVWR, but better real weights. And howmanny axles and tires.
Then from tires read on sidewall 3 things.
1 maxload or loadindex.
2 pressure behind AT, at is not always given anymore .
3 speedcode or if ST.
Then this "pigheaded Dutch selfdeclared tirepressurespecialist" will give advice.

A tire's max psi, cold, is indicated on the tire, and should never be exceeded. I agree you probably have load range-C tires, and they are generally 50psi tires. So, that that case, the trailer sticker is correct, too.

The 50 psi is indeed the maximum the tiremaker allows nowadays, unles also maximum pressure is given on sidewall. Continental groop often gives both ( Continental, Semperit, Viking, Vanco) for the European market. Also in Europe CP ( Camping Pneu) is widely spread. Mostly D-load tires ( AT 65 or 69 psi) but maxcold 80 psi .

In Earlyer days higher then behind AT was allowed, and even adviced for ST tires when driving 75mh, 10 psi above AT.

So to mother natures law, if more then 50 psi is needed to prefent overheating of tire, when driving the used speed with real loads on tire, you better play a little with the law of tiremaker, and use higher pressure then AT .

But give asked data in my former post, mayby even lower pressure wont overheat your tires in your situation.

Then there is a difference between C- load and 6 plyrated( Eur system ) 6 ply is AT 55 psi. I think that this has already given conversion- problems in the past , so lower pressure advice because going from 50 psi as pressure needed for maxload.
Because the orher loadranges are aboyt the same in both systems, this error is easyly made for C- load vs 6ply.
4ply 36 psi/ B-load 35 psi
6ply 55psi/ C-load 50 psi
8 ply 65 psi/ D_ load 65 psi
10ply 80psi/ E-load 80 psi .
In European sysem exeptions are allowed in AT-pressure.
As far as I know in USA system , no exeptions.
