Emergency Window in Bedroom

We have a 2019 27DBH and it has an inoperable emergency window in the bedroom, for some reason, and I would love to know if this can be converted to a functioning window. The bedroom is very stuffy and we are not entirely comfortable sleeping with the door open with only the non-locking screen door between us and the animals on the property.
If this is not possible then maybe someone would know of an upgrade screen locking mechanism or replacement door.
Thanks in advance

What do you mean inoperable window? Many folks use the emergency window in their rigs for ventilation.

Exactly, the emergency window, I did not realize it could be opened and closed without issue. Typically emergency windows once opened have to be "reset". Is this not the case?

We have a different camper, but our emergency window operates in two ways: one, as a regular window (open the glass; air flows through the screen), or two, as an emergency window (turn the red handle; virtually the entire thing pops out).

I dunno. Our emergency window is supposed to be operated in an emergency only. We were warned that it would fall out when opened. Haven't tried it though.

Looking at my trailers EM window it would be tough to get through it. Small and high off the floor, not like code required house windows.

Had the same problem. Window had never been opened and rubber seals bonded to the glass. Was so stubborn i was afraid i'd break it.
Finally a small putty knife helped loosen. Then i put a light coat of RV rubber seal treatment and no more problens.
Also this window can swing VERY wide, so i made a 24in wooden crutch to hold the window waaay open for more air

Emergency window

I do not have a screen in my emergency window just two release handles. Would my window just fall out?

Have someone outside hold the window while opening and try it.

Good idea.
Most emergency windows I'm familiar with will fall out if you open them all the way (approach 90°). If you just crack them open for ventilation, no problem.

I would say if there's a screen on it, it's meant to be used for ventilation. If no screen I wouldn't open it. Just sayin'.

Well after the best nights sleep we have had since purchasing the trailer, I will say it’s not just an emergency window and operates over and over with no issue. There is a screen though.

I wasn't interested in changing to an operable window but that's a good idea.

My problem is the the lever with the red plastic tip, the emergency window won't open. It's stuck. Any suggestions on how to open it without breaking the lever by putting too much force on it?

In order to open ours the red lever Needed to be pressed towards the window and rotated into a flat position, the. Push the window open. Did you try this and are unable to move the lever or window?

Thanks everybody! A lot of great replies, I'm going to try again to open it with the twist and push method. I'll post my results.

A good whack with a hard object will turn ANY window into an emergency window.

We have the exact same emergency window you have and the dealer made it clear that when opened it fall straight to the ground and more than likely break. It is strictly for exiting the RV in the event of a fire. I am hoping I can find a dual purpose window to replace it.

Why not run a test with someone on the outside to catch/support the window open it and see how far it has to move to unhinge if it does. Just a thought
