Frameless Windows coming off hinge

Well, they're pretty...but a problem.

Two of my frameless windows on the driver side have partially separated from the top hinge. Either the glue was weak on that side, or there wasn't any.

Either way, I'm battling for a mobile tech, because I can't drive this at highway speeds or I risk the window coming off completely.

If you have the Black Label package, check your hinges!

You can see in the last pic the light between the seal and the glass that tipped me off to the problem.Click image for larger version

Not good! I love the look of frameless windows too. My GW has framed so being old school sometimes I guess pays off. I am sure they can get it fixed to your liking.

So, these suckers might come off and drop to the ground before I get a tech out. What should I use to try and DYI to get these windows to bond to the metal hinge?
Urethane? Butyl?
Thoughts and Prayers?

I am not sure what they use to bond them in the first place. But if I were to suggest anything it would be a clear silicone adhesive of some brand like Dap or otherwise. But then does that negate any warranty work in the meantime is the million dollar question.

Well, FR is willing to pay for parts for a mobile tech, but not labor and service call.

My dealer said "oh, I'll make them regret that". He is ordering an entire new window assembly, with framing, screens, the whole bit.

He said, and I quote "In the end, it would have been cheaper for them to send a mobile tech out to glue your windows. But, maybe they'll learn a little something."

You can see the water that collects on the inside of the window after a pretty intense thunderstorm last night.

Still not sure what I'll do. Short term is a lot of Gorilla Tape to get the windows to seal at the top. [emoji19]Click image for larger version

Not cool!!!! Please keep us updated! Headed out to check mine RIGHT NOW!

What is the glue used to bond your rear view mirror to the windshield? I am not sure of it's sealing properties...

Just another example of poor workmanship!! FR might regret banging these out as fast of possible without much QC!!

So now the question comes back to the extended warranty or push FR to offer us another year or 6.

Thumbs up Gasket adhesive

I had a similar/same issue. Gasket pulled loose from the black privacy glass. Repair shop said to try Sikaflex 221, which is a polyurethane sealant/adhesive.
I was able to squeeze a bead along the gasket and hold it in place with small clamps until it set. So far, so good.

Good for your dealer! FR should have done what you stated, would have like stated, been cheaper! Oh well!

We had a problem with one of our Hehr brand frameless windows. The very bottom of the window came loose and detached from the 'slide bar' and was free in the wind. We fixed it by using Flex Seal clear adhesive in a tube (not in the spray can). This happened last fall in North Carolina and it's held tight since then.
I took some denatured alcohol and thoroughly cleaned both surfaces: the window and the slide bar, let it dry; cleaned it a second time, let it dry then applied the Flex Seal, held the slide bar tight to the window for about 30 seconds and then let it cure.

By the way, Hehr has been sold to another company and when I contacted their tech support, it was lacking.

HEHR was taken over by LCI (Lippert Component Industries). Not much on these rigs nowadays that's not LCI. Chassis, appliances, furniture, etc.

Frameless window repair

This happened to my Solera last year. I removed the glass from hinge, cleaned real well then used Loctite PL polyurethane formula construction adhesive. No problems since.

Butyl is not an adhesive. Silicone will cause long term issues if you ever have to readhere the glass to the hinge. The Sikflex 221 is great stuff, but I add m not sure if it will work well on glass.

Check out marine supply websites like Defender.com for different sealer/adhesives. They usually list what surfaces the adhesive is meant for.

What year is your TT? I read on here there was a recall on the frame less windows up to 2020 (I think). I have them on my 2021 and wish I'd noticed how little they actually open.

Great, and they claimed the "new" adhesive prevented the issue. I went out and checked mine just in case, so far so good.....

Based on what I'm seeing, these weren't glued at all on half the hinge. It's a failure in workmanship and QC, not the glue itself.

You can do a 5 minute mod to make them open further. There are several YT videos and at least one thread on this forum.

At least your window is still attached. We purchased a 2021 Della Terra East/West in April of this year on our first trip the emergency window blew out and was destroyed. I contacted Forest River and there answer was it was not a manufacturer defect with the window. After supplying pictures of the screws pulling out of the window frame Forest River did send a new window and shade (in good faith) refusing to take responsibility of a defect. I am responsible for window replacement. I have battled Forest River for four months now without resolution. This should be warranty repair and installation should be included
