garbage can inside trailer ideas

I realized last night that I do not have a garbage can for my trailer. I did a quick search online and found a few different ideas. What do you use as a garbage can when your are camping?

Just a normal everyday kitchen garbage can that uses tall bags (12-13 gal ?). Stores under the dinette when on the move.

We use a small waste basket lined with a plastic grocery bag.
Emptied daily or even twice daily if necessary during our camp ground walkabouts.

I saw several ones that you hook up on the side of a drawer or oven door but they seem way to small.

I didn't think about storing a regular garbage can under the dinette. Good idea.

The one posted looks like a regular size garbage can but it collapses. That is a good idea.

The collapsible one has 3 sections to each leg, so if you don't want it full height, just leave a section of each leg out.

Paper bags from the grocery store. When we buy food for camping we request paper bags to use as trash bags. And we take them out daily. Plus they stand on their own so you don't need a trash can.

Hangs on the handle for the oven and uses plastic shopping bags for liner.

We also use the collapsable trash bag holder that NavyLCDR described. It works VERY well for us, and the lid help greatly to keep any "aromas" to a minimum. We store it on a shelf in the pantry when we travel.

Trash

We recycle grocery bags for trash. Knot one handle to make a small loop and hang from a “s” hook on the bunk ladder by the door of the Forester MBS.We take out trash twice a day.

TTNewbie - I think you have a 26dbh which is what we bought for this year too. I found that a regular sized plastic kitchen trash can fits perfectly on its side on the very bottom of the pantry that I wouldn’t really use for pantry type items anyways. So storing it there when traveling and pulling it out while camping.

We just use a kitchen sized, foot peddle opening trash can. Has been working for years.

X-2 on using the ladder. I hook a small collapsible trash can w/ my recyclable bags on the top of ladder.

We have a very small plastic trash can that fits plastic grocery bags. It sits out of the way on the counter in the corner of the kitchen. It's emptied frequently.

Outside we have a collapsible nylon trash can that is held open a spiral spring. It's stopped in an outside compartment when collapsed.

It fits a standard 13 gallon trash bag. I collapse it slightly to push it under the edge of the trailer near our outdoor cooking area, where it holds itself in place. I close it up in the back of the truck at night.

It's similar to the one linked below. Ours doesn't have a cover.

Our 192RBS has a built in waste basket holder near the door. We line the basket with a plastic grocery bag (thankfully they’re not banned yet!) and have a second waste basket for recyclables.

My wife bought the collapsible garbage can that NavyLCDR suggested. It worked ok. I just found it to be in the way a lot, especially because of the dog and his sleeping mat.

I like the idea of using the bottom space under the sink for a garbage can like IWill suggested. I will look into that for my next trip.

The one thing I can definitely say is that the lid on the collapsible garbage can did keep smells out. One of my kids did not know what to do with the dog's poop so she threw it in the garbage can. I only found out because I asked her where she put the bag when I didn't see it anywhere outside.

That's exactly why we keep a very small can on the kitchen counter, in the far corner. That space is too far to be useful for anything other than storage, so we're not wasting space. We also empty it frequently, so it's not messy and there are no smells.

We have several. We use the collapsible one mentioned earlier for outside. We have several dogs so like to have one outside, with a lid. Inside we have one with a foot pedal that sits in the corner. The lid keeps odors contained quite well and keeps the dogs out. We bought a little more expensive one that is brushed silver color (matches the other hardware in our trailer) so its looks okay sitting out. In the bathroom we have another very small garbage can with foot pedal. The one in the bathroom gets taken out daily (the others usually do also but we don't have to if they're not full). they are lined with plastic grocery bags.

I had all sorts of issues with the one that I purchased that is in the picture above. There are no side walls to contain the garbage. The back was all discombobulated and protruding with the items we put in it. We through out the garbage on a daily basis but it was still a little bit of a pain to have out in the open. Im going to look into a couple of the ones that hang on the drawer doors/oven handle and see how they work out.
