Generator ??

I have a Cherokee 274dbh. Majority of camping is done at sites with full hookups. I would like to do a little more dry camping. What size and brand generators are you all running. Thanks

Depends on whether you want to run the a/c or not.
And will you be using it in a campground.

If you want to run the a/c, is it a 13.5k or 15k?

2 Honda EU2000i run in tandem for A/C, otherwise run one at a time. Only way to go.

For sure.

Two 2000 gennys for the same price as a 3000 genny... but with 1000 more watts, lighter individually and quieter individually.

No downside in my eyes.

Some say twice the maintenance. I say redundancy!

Yeah. My buddy has the two hondas in parallel and loves them. I just don't love the $2k price tag. Guess u have to pay to play.

The same logic can be applied to other brands that have lower price tags.

Champion on sale on Amazon

Champion has their 3100watt electric starters on sale on Amazon. I think it was $610.00. You can get a parallel cable for this model at Walmart for less than $60.00.

I have a Champion 3100 watt, runs my 15K A/C, tv and a couple lights as long as the fridge is on propane. Like SarDogDad said, on sale on Amazon for $581.

I was looking at a Champion Digital Hybrid the other day, I think it was in the 3k-3.5kW range.

As far as I can gather it falls between an inverter generator and a non-inverter generator noise-wise. Really fuel efficient too. Doesn't run at fixed rpm like non-inverter gennys do and it's supposed to maintain output within 3%. The one I was looking at was around 600 I think.

The Champion 3100's (electric start or not...your choice) are a sweet deal.

Specs on the champion are saying it's 58db at 23ft. Almost as quiet as Honda. This may be the way to go if it will power my ac. $581 on amazo

If you want the quietest you will have to make a substantial investment in the Honda's. However, my Champion 3100 is quiet enough and does not interfere. In field use the difference is not significant.

If weight is not an issue I would suggest you consider the remote start at $610.

Since we are on this topic let me ask this. I want to use AC power dry camping in my 16bhs and am going to get a generator. How does the inverter in it work? I have no knowledge on them sorry, this might be a dumb question but if it has an inverter on it, do you need to be running the generator to have use of the inverter? I was going to buy an inverter alone to use the power from the batteries (I think that's possible right?) But of the generator comes with one do I still need to buy one? I'll have a couple batteries setup so I'm hoping it's will store some power

An inverter generator refers to a generator that produces DC electricity much like an alternator in a car would, then uses a built-in inverter to convert the DC electricity to AC. A regular generator actually generates AC and does not convert the electricity. The benefits are the inverter generators are usually a lot quieter and typically generate cleaner electricity since the DC is converted to AC by the inverter, small changes in the RPMs don't affect the frequency or voltage of the AC. Makes your electronics much happier.

In order to get any electrify from the generator it does need to be running. The inverter in it is not able to be hooked up to your batteries. You can get an inverter to hook to the batteries for AC power, but don't expect that to last very long if your AC loads are high.
