This unit runs a bit louder because it has a larger motor to produce the additional power. I don't believe there will be pitch forks and torches outside your rv door.

I have had camphosts allow me to run my inverter genny all night while telling open frame units NO-too loud! This was during a unexpected cold snap and we all drained our batteries overnight. I made sure to have my tented neighbors on my side by running an extension cord to their tent with a small heater and told them to keep on low.

We made friends!

Good idea!

People will tolerate the noise when they benefit from it.

Champion just introduced that model I think, in direct competition with the Honda open cradle inverter (2800 watt?)

I't's going to be louder than an enclosed anything unit, Honda or Champion. Will it be irritatingly loud? Don't know. I do know that it will not run any ac in economy mode, but neither will the Honda.

Most any generator is RV Ready (with the proper adapter plug). The issue is...

Are the campground residents ready for the generator noise level?

Yep, we discussed these here a few weeks ago in another thread.
Because it is of open frame/contractor style construction and not all enclosed like a typical inverter model, it will be louder.

Generating power isn't any different, someone's tolerance to the loudness might be less.

Hey 5picker do you happen to know which thread. I'd really like to read what was said about it. I've been considering buying it, we recently camped next to a person running a champion 3100w inverter and that thing was pretty quiet. I know they rate the 2000w at 58db. And the hybrid is rated at 64db is 6db really that much louder.

HELL YA!

Suggest you read up on decibel ratings and logarithmic scales.

i own a Honda 2000i and a Champion open frame generator.
the Honda is rated at 54db while the Champion is rated at 65db.
I can personally tell you that the difference is so large, the Champion will NEVER be used in a campground.

I believe this was the post.
Champion Digital Hybrid

And yes... 6DB is a lot!

I believe decibel numbers are exponentially, not linear so 65 is exponentially higher (a big difference) than the 54. So not a 1 2 3, more a 2 4 6 8.

Somewhat correct. Sound doubles in volume for every 3db increase, so:

54 = 0 reference
57 = 2x reference
60 = 4x reference
63 = 8x reference
66 = 16x reference

How loud is it?

To give everyone a reference, here is a visual on decibel levels (based on spellings, it is from a Canadian source - eh!). In my searching, several of the generator manufacturers specify the volume of their generator measured at 20 feet.

Someone should build a chart like that using all of the popular inverter generators on the market.

I can't trust any chart that can't spell Curbside correctly. 😉

Perceived sound doubles at 10db, it takes twice the power to get a 3db increase, and sound pressure doubles at 6db.
