Hot water switch

Has anyone replaced the on/off switch for the electric hot water heater ??
I have a 2006 Cherokee Light 5th Wheel. Problem is to get to the back of the switch. No access from outside and inside it is behind the hot water tank
Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated. Hate to have to remove the hot water tank.

Thanks
Ed

I replaced mine....it was bad from the factory. It has 2 tabs that need to pushed in on each end. Since the old switch is going in the trash anyway, push a small screwdriver behind the long end, and push the tab down while prying with the screwdriver. The other end is easier, since the 1st end is already done.

Here is a picture of the switch so you can see how it is made: http://www.americanrvcompany.com/Sub...RV_p_1117.html

IF your water heater is on a separate circuit breaker you can
shut it off at the breaker and forget the outside switch.

If the switch is bad then that's another story.....
(mine is stuck ON but I don't care as long as it heats water....)

I added a switch on mine in order to turn on and off from inside. I leave the switch on th water heater on . The cord for mine plugged in under my entertainment area. I removed a panel and wired the switch in line.

Hot water switch

Thanks to all for your prompt replies.
I found the idea of poping out the switch with a screwdriver worked like a charm. Had it out in 5 minites.
Problem solved !!
Thanks again.
