New TT generator question.

Hello all, new owner of first RV/TT! Never owned or really ever even used a TT before. I think I slept in one once many years ago. But dove right in and bought a 2022 Grey Wolf Limited 26DBH. Absolutely love it and family is so happy. Already about to go on second trip this month in it. I seen the posts with 13000btu acs power needed but I thought it was 15000btu unit in line ( not sure to be honest). Would this Costco special be enough to start it and run it until cooled off in there?

You need to know how many watts your ac will draw to size it to a generator.
An ac 'soft start' enables many campers to use a generator while camping. It's the starting watts that usually limit whether you can start the ac and the soft start will help. Many people install it themselves.
Unless you're boondocking, your ability to use the generator will be regulated by the campground and many only let you use it during certain hours. Plus private campgrounds usually won't let you use it. That generator is below 60decibles which is the max allowed at national parks.
I haven't shopped for generators for some time, so you might want to search the forum for recent advice.

Welcome to the forum!

That Firman would probably work. Good product at a great price.

Congratulations on the new TT! You might consider dual smaller units connected together via a parallel connection adapter. They are a bit quieter usually, you can run just one if you need power but not A/C, and they are much lighter. I have two units like this one linked below and they work great and are only 48 lbs each, much easier to move and store than the 111 lb single unit. Wen also has a newer model that is 2350 watts and only 39 lbs. Just a couple of options to consider.

Thanks everyone for responses and welcomes. This is a new experience and a lot different than expected. Used to vehicles where you can look up exactly what every part is online and with a TT it isn't like that. I will be heading over to campsite (where it is at) this weekend and will find the exact model.

that generator should run any single AC. I run my 13000 on a Honda 3500 no problem.

what fuel will you be using (gas or propane). did you see that it has slightly reduced capacity when running on propane?

i would think that it will run any a/c but you may have to turn other high amperage 120 volt devices off, such as water heater on electric and/or converter.

My Toy hauler has a 5500 watt built in and it runs my 50 Amp service with everything powered up just fine. Yours is 30 Amp, 50 Amp is any unit that has 2 AC units. So, mathematically, you should be fine with that generator.

Asking about generators is like asking about trucks. The response is typically; ‘what I own is what I love and recommend’. That said, I have two 2000w Firman generators. After installing a Micro Air Easy Start, I can run the 15k AC on one generator. If I need more juice, I run two in parallel. So, if you are younger with a good back, I’d go with the larger Firman you are looking at. Added benefit of Costco support. I’m very satisfied with Firman, and had excellent customer support experience.

I have two 2000watt Firmans. They work pretty well. I think they are a tad bit louder. But for the price I payed for both about $750. I can live with it for as little as I use them.

I would suggest buying two smaller 2000 or 2200 watt inverters of what ever brand. Run them parallel when needed. But most importantly to me. Two smaller units are easier to lift and maneuver than one large unit. Even better if you can run just one smaller unit if you install an easy or soft start on your AC.

Just make sure if you buy two smaller inverters. That the brand has a parallel kit for them.
