Hope the OP comes back on here and lets us know what the dealer has said. Since he's not back on here complaining, the dealer may have resolved the issue.

Drrm80, in your defense I have bought a few trailers in my life and on a new unit I have never climbed up on the roof. I will say i did today when my daughter and son in-law were looking at a used trailer.

Do not touch the roof by fixing it yourself, this will open up the defense for the dealer that you did something that you did not have the training to do. From my experience the insurance company will want a new roof, no patch is acceptable to maintain the original integrity and will void the warranty

That is not a new roof... patch area, or any area. Something's afoot. Lesson for others--always check everything before signing.

If it was missing parts and the dealer advertised and/or sold it as new you’ve got to perhaps question why you consummated that sale and what else is missing. A dealer who cannibalizes a new unit for another isn’t anyone I’d do business with for any reason. To show to you while still missing parts is just dumb. I’d beware of anything that dealer says or does.

There is a federal law that will protect you if you want to return the trailer, which includes the dealer having to pay all legal fees. Most state don't have laws to protect you.

I would be apprehensive that the unit has water damage which may not be readily visible if the antenna was ripped off and that makeshift patch is all that has been done. I believe I would be looking to the dealer to take it back and order a new one. The color would not be important enough to take a chance on having a $20k investment which was damaged.

It would be interesting to see if the dealer photos that were online show the antenna present. That would be proof the buyer did not damage the trailer after it left the lot. A lot of times those photos are still online for a while to attract other customers. Just saying.....

Better Business Bureau and civil court

I bought one from the Tulsa area but after finding a number of warranty issues and damage done by the dealer, I am still waiting. It is like "the check is in the mail" or "you can't prove we did it". Forest River will never get a recommendation from me - not be cause they had problems but because they are not responding to fix them.

BTW - I put together a power point with all (that I am aware of so far) that is screwed up. Deal told me drive 500 miles and we will look at it but you can prove we did it. The Forest River rep said they would work with it and send me the parts. I would rather do the work than let the dealer touch it again. However now they are hedging on providing the parts. If they follow through and actually fix it I will update but next week are the BBB reports.

Give them 2 weeks then don't mess around

Between the roof and the pricing discrepancies you don't have to mess around. Put your Attorney General to work. You'll need to build and present your case/complaint with good documentation which it sounds like you have. Determine in advance and within reason what you want in the way of resolution and stand your ground. If you have an AG who will do their job they'll negotiate it for you. File with the AG in the state where you live. That dealer does not want to spend his time responding to the AG. The AG will never be a customer of the dealer. You probably won't either but he'll likely enjoy the challenge of trying to bring you around with his savvy salesmanship. Again, be reasonable with your resolution request and don't get greedy.

Have a feeling the OP bailed on us. We may never know the outcome.

Very odd. Kinda leads one to think perhaps the OP was at fault after all.

Just an FYI to everyone that recommends "Going to the Mattresses" (Godfather Reference) right off the bat without letting the factory customer service get involved, a warning.

Once you mention "lawyer", whether online or otherwise, the goodwill at the factory ends. They will turn the whole thing over to their lawyers and you will most likely be disappointed with the outcome.

I can't tell you the number of requests we get to delete threads and posts as a part of any settlement AND WE DO NOT DO IT.

PERIOD.

I wondered that too. I sure would like to hear the resolution.

I agree that something was removed then patched.

That might bring up a whole new set of issues.... did you hit some low branches on the way home? Any scrapes on the a/c housing? Where is the antenna wire? Did the tv's work during your PDI? Those are just a couple off the top of my head.
Even if the antenna was gone, you may have still had reception on the TV. Depends on how close you were to a strong signal. Out antenna was never wired up, worked great in the shop, but no reception elsewhere.

I would be interested to know the dealers explanation of scavaging the tt for parts, then offering it for sale as a new unit. Am I right in assuming that the dealer offered to replace all the missing parts? While it may not have left the lot, the original parts that were installed at the factory are not on the unit. Soooo...... no legal advice offered or inferred here. Just another lesson on due diligence in life. Hope all is resovled to the owners satisfaction.
