Sealant recommendations

What type of sealant is used on RVs around power outlets, vents and storage doors? For both clear and black? I have some areas around my rig that need to be re-sealed and it has clear and/or black. Any suggestions appreciated.

Proflex works great. Just redid some of the joints on my camper and it went well. Don't use silicone! It's nearly impossible to remove

Hello there !

I just noticed you are also an Albertan and endorsing Proflex. I am trying to eliminate the colder weather as a culprit to my problem. My Proflex seals are splitting in record time - this one in just one months, The factory's split in around 14 months and my original reseals (Which I thought I may have laid on too thick) lasted about 4 months. Obviously something I am doing is different than everybody else, but I don't know what.

I clean off the old sealant with a plastic scrapper and turpentine. Clean off the turpentine with rubbing alcohol. l=Let dry and apply the new sealant. Here is a picture after 1 month. It ends u getting hard in about 3 weeks.

What is your experience with Proflex like?

Interesting, I bought a cartridge of the clear sealant a couple of years ago at an rv repair shop to touch up the sealant around a window and it blended right in and I never noticed premature aging.

Edit: I didn't even bother to thoroughly clean the area, I just wiped it with a rag and applied a thin bead of the Proflex.

Be sure you are using ProFlexRV.
There are several different configurations of ProFlex.

You might try the Geocel 2300 MHRV sealant.
Made by the same company that makes ProFlex.

2300 MHRV is to withstand expansion & contraction and temperature changes. There are several versions of the 2300 too. Be sure to get the MHRV.
