I have a 2018 274dbh also, we absolutely l or it!! And we’re very happy we went with the 274 over the 26dbh. Ours was made just before the red stripe and flip up steps. We honestly didn’t like the newer step style. The fact that the dirt and water flip up into the camper was not appealing to us with little kids. I’ve heard plenty of good reviews about them also though.

Besides the stability factor, I know the folding steps can sometimes have ground clearance issues, especially those trailers whose frames sit low (and the Grey Wolf qualifies, there).

A power step, especially if it folded up into the frame, would be something I might take an interest in - but it would have to have a manual failover - and stuff like that isn't something you'd find at the GW price point, IMO.)

(sorry if I hijacked the thread, but I am curious, since both the OP and I seem to much prefer the 'stable step')

Like someone stated everyone has their preference. These are the issues I see for ME for the more ride steps.

1. As another poster said it would bring a lot of dirt and water into the camper especially if you were packing up in the rain.

2. We boondock a lot and pull over in rest stops and go back into the trailer. With my current one if I need to (I’m not that old yet) get up into my 26rr without pulling out the steps. This is good if I’m in a trailer parking space and the space beside me is full I would not have room to swing the more ride steps out without possibly hitting the vehicle beside me. Then if no one is the space beside me and I put the down the moreride steps and some one swings into the space beside me they may not see the steps hanging out there and damage their and my vehicle.

3. Not every place you park is level and the same height or some may have a slope and some may not some the ground may go up. Right now with my fold out step I use what God gave me (legs) and adjust for the difference. I don’t want to spend time monkeying with the adjustment on the bottom of the Moreride steps just to get into my rig. Especially if I’m just going in to get drinks or snack on the road.

4. I feel the moreride steps give you less flexibility getting into your camper. Just MHO

Here is an example. My tongue is as low as it can go. The bottom step is close to the ground. The ground starts sloping uphill.

Congratulations.. We just recently got the 304bh Limited!

As for the steps, I had the standard fold down steps on our 2017 Shasta. We have the Morryde steps on ours as New Cherokee as well, and I absolutely 1000% prefer them to the folding steps. I'll never go back. Our driveway sits on a slope, and after about 30 seconds I had it adjusted for the slope and zero issues.

We just bought a grey wolf and I can’t for the life of me find a forum specifically about this trailer. I found yours but don’t want to clog it with my questions. Do you know if there is a forum specifically for this trailer?

Grey Wolf is a forest river product so you’re on the right forum

There isn’t a Grey Wolf specific section but they are part of the Cherokee line so just post your questions in that section

Yay congrats!!!! :-D
I believe right here in the Cherokee sub-forum is just fine! We originally were purchasing a Grey Wolf 26DBH and posts I made about it were moved here to the Cherokee sub-forum. The 274DBH is essentially identical.

Enjoy your new camper!

Looks great. Wife and I just purchased our 274dbh late last summer. Unfortunately only got 1 small trip in it before having to winterize it. Now we are chomping at the bit to get out and use it but with this back and forth weather we are gonna have to wait until Memorial Day weekend now.

Oh that's a bummer! I am getting antsy looking out the window at mine all set up and ready to go since March 27th. LOL good old New England weather has not allowed us to take her out yet but we do have our first trip planned this weekend somewhere locally. I hope you get to enjoy yours sooner than later! :-)

What is the slight difference from the 274 and the 26? I can visually see the rig is higher what is a plus. I seen YouTube videos on how to flip the axles to give you even more ground clearance.

The biggest difference is the floor is flush inside where the dinette the and loveseat are in the slide out vs having a step up. Also the windows in the slide out are larger and there is an additional window. Feels more spacious overall. ☺ I believe the 274 has the sturdier steps also, I don't think the 26 does (but I could be wrong)

My 2019 has the newer step system. That’s awesome. That’s another reason I went with the 26 rather the 23 more space. I really like the ground clearance yours has compared to the 26dbh. But I’ll manage.

Happy camping
