Slide Problems

Just purchased a 2011 Cherokee 30F with two slides. The one works great the other "binds" when being retracted. The opening is either not square to the slide out or the opening is too small. Either way it now requires modifications so that it will work properly.
Has anyone else had similar problems?

Smile Slide Problems

Hi Susan
Thanks for getting back.
Yes, the unit is level.
I've got it set up at a seasonal park on the Grand River.
When I was getting familiar with the unit at the dealership is when I first noticed that it was binding. I asked about it and was told that it was just because the unit had been sitting and the rubbers were just sticking a bit.
It did the same thing at the seasonal site so I spoke with the dealership owner who said that this was not OK and he was upset that no one had told him about this before delivery.
The slide opening will have to be made a bit bigger by about a 1/2 inch.

Yikes cutting the opening bigger seems - well - so permanent. Hard to believe that they'd cut it small from the factory and aren't using a template to make sure the holes are the correct size. I'm wondering if you could see if the openings are indeed square - measure the diagonals - upper right to lower left and upper left to lower right - should be the same number. I'm thinking if somehow the unit got torqued the opening would be mis-shapen if that makes sense.

Slides in general amaze me - that in general they work as well as they do.

Ditto the comment by 2 Susan.........."Yikes cutting the opening bigger seems - well - so permanent. Hard to believe that they'd cut it small from the factory"

sounds like perhaps at some point it wasn't level and the slide was forced open and walla......
I know it isn't the same, but the example I have is on my pop up I sold if I didn't have it 100% level and put the one piece door into place it wouldn't line up 100. It was a single door and not a slide, but I could tweek it to fit.......

sorry you have this issue,
Call FR and see if they have any thoughts or if they well warranty it it further if the dealer does actually cut it larger??

It would suck if you took it to them, they cut it larger, and then it was worse and FR won't stand behind it becasue of the cutting???

Humm, our Silverback has an issue with slide, we called Lippert and were told that it should be 66% closed, ours closes great on one side and on one it has a gap of about 1/4 inch at bottom. We had it in to the dealer and they worked on it for a week, it is better but not perfect. Lippert tells us that it is ok??? It has not leaked when it rains, and when slide out is retracked it closes great, only when it is in the out position that we have a gap????
