Stolen: 2021 Wolf Pup 16 BHS

CO Peeps: Pls keep your eye out for a Stolen 16BHS from Denver CO.

Around 3:25am on 10/28 a vehicle drove off with a 21’ (bumper to hitch) Cherokee Wolf Pup (Model 16BHS) camper trailer that was parked on the east side of the 200 block of S Humboldt St between E. Cedar and E. Alameda in Washington Park / Country Club. We believe the vehicle is a small SUV, possibly a 2013-2016 Ford Escape.

Approx timing of events:
~2:40a: vehicle (potentially Ford Escape) drives east bound on E Cedar and turns southbound on 200 Block of S Humboldt, parks on west side.
2:51a: suspicious individual walks through alley between s Humboldt and s franklin with flashlight and shines it at our garage/camera and quickly walks away.
3:17a: vehicle turns on, turns around in street and backs up to trailer
3:25a: vehicle drives off with trailer, northbound on East Cedar and past S Franklin. I have reported this information to the police.

If you have any footage around this area or a small SUV alone or with a trailer between 2:30-3:30am please let us know. It's been reported to Police. Please keep an eye out in the road and in your communities.

Distinctive markings: rear tire cover is torn, may have reflextix in windows, bottom bunk has Thomas the Tank Engine stickers on the walls

Description of trailer involved – Color: Silver, blue & Black Aluminum, Make: Cherokee, Model: Wolf Pup 16BHS, Year: 2021, Type: Travel Camper Trailer / RV, License plate: AZH-C40

Other details: Northbound on S. Humboldt Street at 3:25a on 10/25, being towed by a small SUV/possibly a 2013-2016 Ford Escape

I wonder if they checked their door sticker before towing that thing away. I don’t think that tow vehicle is adequate.

Any updates? I hope they find the trailer with the hitch still on the "tow" vehicle's rear axle and frame pulled right out from under that car!!

That's terrible. Hopefully they ruined their vehicle towing the trailer.
It kinda looks like they knew what they were looking for. Has your neighbor checked previous footage to see if the guy cased the area previously? Does your area have an 'app' like Nextdoor which will allow you to tell others in your neighborhood?

Thanks all for the kind words. No updates yet from police, just working through insurance. Yes, we have a ‘nextdoor’ and we’ve talked to neighbors and have collected quite a bit of footage of thief arriving, parking, etc. We also have footage from our alley (trailer was parked in the front of house) of a suspicious individual walking down with a flashlight about 15 minutes before the car was attached. Speaking of wanting to hear a engine working hard, listen to this video...that car engine and the brakes. Video Yikes!

If they are stealing trailers, the tow vehicle is also stolen. Ruining their tow vehicle is not important.
3am crooks are usually meth addicts turning over the stolen trailer to a fence for 10% of value.
The trailer will probably used as a mobile meth lab until it is abandoned somewhere.

Makes me think I need to purchase a tongue lock. Most of my trailers are not worthy of being stolen, it old scrap trailer, 30 year old pontoon boat, 50 year old pop up. Our 2021 wolf pup 18to may be more tempting.

Shame on those hardened criminals. Sorry for your stolen investment. Hopefully you'll get this issue resolved and those idiot's get caught, before someone else gets ripped off.
We're looking into the investment of a wheel lock, to add with our coupler lock we're already using. Fortunately, we have 3 vehicles and we try to keep one right in front of our investment, to deter criminal behavior to think about such an idea.

Hi sorry, yes.

Rig was found on the east part of Denver, and was actively being lived in. There was damage inside and out. Inspected it at the impound lot to collect any personal items, etc. I found drug paraphernalia including meth pipe. That’s enough for insurance to call it a total loss, so worked with them to close it out. Reminder for those of you who have added accessories not included in your bill of sale: make sure to update your RV policy to reflect this. Also, contents of our rig are covered under homeowners insurance, not RV insurance. So we were on the hook for 2 different deductibles to be made “whole”.

As far as we know no suspects/arrests. But it was freshly lived in: light was still on, raw chicken breast in the freezer. Not sure if they scrabbled before cops came or what. Also in the camper we’re items not ours: TV, other clothes, bolt cutters...

That totally sucks. At least insurance wrote it off. After reading this made me check my app to see if our TT is still at the storage lot.

Thanks for the update.
Guess you know what those bolt cutters were used for.

I didn't know that there would be two insurance companies involved. Do the contents include appliances or are they personal items that you've added? Our deductible on the house is so high that it would probably be worthless.

Glad it was declared a total loss. You certainly didn't need the added insult of having to clean it up and repair it.

Short answer (based on my exp): if an appliance came with the trailer and is arguably part of the trailer and you didn't add it: it would be included as part of the trailer insurance. If it was an appliance you added above what came with it but it was somehow physically secured to the trailer, it might is covered by the trailer insurance. If it was an appliance that wasn't physically secured to the trailer and has a use outside of the specific trailer (say, a teapot) it would be covered by homeowners.

Longer answer: It may be defined by your insurer but our homeowners policy via Allstate said the general guidance is they wouldn't cover anything physically/permanently attached to the trailer. Layperson terms they said 'if you were to pick up the trailer and shake it up side down, Allstate would cover the items that would fall out' that have broader use beyond the specific trailer. So, this covered most things except the MaxxAir vent cover, new thermostat, MicroAir Softstart I installed, a back rack I added as they were physically attached and arguably have no other purpose except for the specific trailer. That made sense except our other carrier (Progressive, which interestingly is owned by Berkshire Hathaway which also owns Forest River) only covered up to the value that was insured, in this case the items that came with a trailer. That said, I was uninsured for the items I mentioned above, so I asked progressive if I could go recover them after the trailer as in Progressive's possession, which they agreed. So anyone need to buy a gently used MaxxAir cover . I have a feeling I'd have less finger pointing if I was insured all by one carrier; next time I'll insure it with Allstate so it's all with the same company.

Also, our policy had a clause that reduced the coverage amount of the loss if the 'stuff' wasn't physically on our property. In this case, it was parked at the curb of street not on the property. So that's something to consider if you have valuable contents and your rig is stored offsite at a storage location if your policy is similar.

Needless to say, I ordered a iTracker GPS tracker to install on a future trailer we order. Hope the info above helps others!
