Suburban water heater issues

I have a 2014 Cherokee 274RB travel trailer. The hot water heater works but the water only get warm but not hot. We are comfortable in the shower but the wife complains that it is not hot enough to adequately wash dishes. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance. Mark

Check your water heater by-pass valve so that it is fully closed.

I have propane but it is not on. When I had the propane on it would light but didn’t make a difference in heat temperature. The switch to the the electricity is on when the temp is just warm. When we bought it we were told it had a tankless water heater but he was selling a camper to a couple of newbies. I have not found a a thermostat nor do I see any tank or valves from the outside. I do not know the model number. The book I received when I bought it covers several different models. I will get it out again and try harder to identify the model number.

No need to apologize for all the questions, it’s all a part of troubleshooting.

The on demand water heaters were gas only.

Check the temp of your cold water! New owners sometimes forget to turn the outdoor shower valves off. Rely on the nozzle on the shower. That mixes hot and cold in the system. Can also happen in the Indoor shower. Turn valves off.

Information! What model number.

Check the bypass valve as mentioned. Also check the outside shower if you have one. If the valves are on the H & C water can mix. The shower head has a shutoff so valves can be on without water coming out. If unsure about bypass valve, post a photo.

This can be caused by the bypass/crossover valve not being set correct. This thread will explain such:

Update

I did find the crossover valve open. I am leaving Sunday morning (if the hurricane lets me) for a week in Florida. I will find out if that was the problem when I get there and hooked up but I would bet that it be hot. I’ll let you know if the problem is or is not fixed.

Thanks to everyone who responded.
