Water Heater
We are first time RVers- we just took delivery of our brand new 287bh. Looking to turn on the water heater but want to do it right. The pics are the directions from the owners manual app and our water heater. I’m not sure what/where the bypass valve is to make sure we have that on. Any help with this process is appreciated! Thanks!

It would help if you posted which brand your RV is. Some brands often use the same model number.

The bypass valve will be behind the water heater. You posted a photo of the front of the water heater.
See here for a picture of one type:

There are also three valve systems that will have an inlet valve, an outlet valve, and a bypass valve in the hose between the two.

Something troubling to me that I see in that picture is it appears they have used connections designed for use with water instead of gas to connect the gas to the water heater. They have used a brass 3/8”MIPx3/8“OD compression dishwasher 90 to connect to the control valve and a stainless steel braided supply line from there to wherever (out of view) they connected to the main gas line. I have never seen a 3/8” stainless steel braided supply line approved for gas, but I know things change, so I could be completely wrong.

In blowing up the photo, I don't believe it to be a braided hose. I see crimp marks on the fitting sleeve but rubber behind that.
Could be I'm totally wrong too.

I also see stainless braid in the pic and I also see nothing wrong with it.! As many “short cuts for profit” that we know the RV industry takes, this would not be one. (IMHO as a former franchised RV dealer)

We just did the walk through on our Grey Wolf 26DBH and the electric switch is in the lower (corrected in post # 14) left corner on our electric/gas water heater. You activate the gas portion from the inside of our TT on the main control panel.
But I see you got it figured out. Congrats and enjoy.
