https://wenproducts.com/products/400...rter-generator , this what I run. Very quite unless running maxed out. When running the ac, the ac drowns out the genetator noise. Weighs about 60lbs and has a 30 amp RV plug, perfect for our nobo 19.5.

That is NOT a quiet generator. In fact, it would violate the National Park max generator noise rules. Another fact is that, at 67db, it is just as loud as my $300 Champion open frame contractor-style non-inverter generator.
Just because they put "inverter" in the description, doesn't mean it's quiet because it's still an open frame contractor-style generator.
The inverter part is just for electronics and has nothing to do with making it quiet.
And the a/c may drown out the noise when you're inside but what about your poor neighbors in the other campsites?

It's interesting that Wen always puts the decibel rating, on their regular quiet inverter generator ads/webpages but there is no such rating on the webpage that you linked. That's always a sign that they're hiding how loud it is.

Guess you dont have one. Cause you don't know what your talking about. The ac is louder than the gen. Inside the trailer you can't even hear the generator and nobody has complained about the noise. Your simply wrong.

X2. Bigger is definitely better. I’ve upsized three times now. Currently have the Westinghouse 3500 with remote start. Mounted on the back rack of my Cougar where plug in is . Wife just hits the button in the morning now . It starts and waalaa instantly she gets coffee. Life is good !

I just bought a Champion 5500/4000 Dual Fuel electric start inverter/generator Monday abs it was delivered to the store today. I hope it does everything I need it to do. I only have one 15,000 AC so I think I can run almost anything I want to in my Grey Wolf Limited. Only time will tell. I hope to pick it up tomorrow and test it out this weekend. I’m planning on running it only on LPG. This will be for home and camper. I got it from BPS for $989 plus tax. I had a bunch of BPS gift cards I had won in some sporting clays tournaments.

My $300 Champion 3500w/4000w open frame contractor-style generator has the same 67db noise rating as your Wen, so I do know how loud 67db is. And I would never subject fellow campers to its loudness.
Just because no one has complained, doesn't mean it's quiet.

The Harbor Freight gen is junk. The Honda 3000 is way too small. I would assume most want to enjoy their 15K AC, fridge, TV, micro, etc. while camping. You will need a minumum 4KW.

The Champion 5500 is a much better choice. Quite, large fuel tank, plenty of power, good reviews.

Well with the eco switch on it idles quiet, and running a 13.5k AC only pulls about 1\3 of the rated power. Regardless, my wen is quieter then one would think, hell, I'm not the only one who thinks so, read the reviews. I cant speak to "your" gen, I dont have one, but my gen can barely be heard over the AC outside the trailer and can't be heard inside the trailer. Keep bashing something you know nothing about. My gen is specifically for 30 amp RV's, its not a "contractors" gen that runs full bore all the time. It is load dependent. I imagine that 67 db is wide open.

It covers a large area, but I may be at it's limit.

Pulsar 4500 with remote start

We purchased a Pulsar 4500 inverter generator. It has remote start, it's very quiet, and it runs both of our air conditioners. Plus it's a lot cheaper than other generators. Here's a link to it at Home Depot

Pay a little more and get a Honda Inverter. You won't be sorry.

Pay half the price getting a Champion and you'll be happy, not sorry.

Other than red paint and a name, the Honda's dont really offer more.

My 3500w dual fuel Champion Inverter was half the price of a smaller 3100w Honda and has worked flawlessly for several years and hundreds of hours.

TitanMike, normally I agree and respect amost everything you say but this time I disagree. In my opinion in the long run I'll stick up for Honda. BTW, most everything you get from Harbor Freight is cheap because it's junk. You won't find many Tradesmen or women buying anything there. Keep up the good advice.

The main problem with the db sound level ratings of generators is they aren’t all measured at the same power output. Some are measured at 25% power, 50% power, and others at the rated power. Most are measured from a distance of 23 feet. Running with the eco switch on is not a realistic way to measure the sound. No generator will power a microwave or AC with the eco on. When the big load comes on, the revs will go up to full power output.

Maybe there’s an online review of generators that tests the sound of them at their rated power, not just on eco, or what the manufactures claim.

Normal conversation is 50 to 60db, 70 a vacuum cleaner, for reference.

It's your money. I've had Honda's and I've owned Champions. I'll keep the extra $$ in my pocket.

As stated, my Champion has hundreds of trouble free hours on it. Bought my first Champion in 2005 because it had the RV 30 Amp receptacle on it. Replaced it with my current 3500 watt Inverter a couple years ago and original is serving as an emergency power generator for my neighbor.

I judge the "value" by the performance and Champion has proven it's not junk.

BTW, the current Honda 3,000 watt Inverter generator is exactly TWICE the price of the 3500w Dual Fuel Champion inverter. Less output, no 30 amp RV outlet, and twice the price. Apparently all the 'value' is in the name.

As for Harbor Freight? Don't recall saying anything about Harbor Freight.

Most generators are used in Boondocking environments and I have RARELY seen anyone camping close enough to be within the test distance for sound output.

Perhaps in a Forest Service Campground but again, most I've camped in have campsites usually spaced a lot farther apart than where one would be within 23 feet.

FWIW the Forest Service uses 60 dba @50 feet as their standard for "too noisy" and it applies to not just generators but any sound generating device like stereo's, etc.

Since "sound pressure" decreases by 6 dba with the doubling of distance a 67 dba generator will JUST MEET the standard as 50 feet is over double the distance used in the standard and most generators are tested by the mfr's at 23 feet.
