2016 DX3 37BH rear slide issues
My rear slide on our bunk house will not come in. It runs out no prob but will not come in, just makes a grinding noise sounds like from the motor. Pulled the panel off below the bunks and below the drawers in the bedroom. All the cables look good, they are all on the pulleys. Got a couple of healthy fellas to push on the slide while holding the button and got it back in so we could get home.
Runs out without issue but its a no go coming in.
Any ideas??

Gear box stripped out more than likely.

That's what I would think too but it runs out perfectly smooth, does it take more power to pull it in?

X2 what Slim said.
cables pull out slide and cables pull slide in, do you have the tool that goes in
the end of the gear box? IF you do you can stick it in the end and decide
what is the best course of action.
this web site has what you need

Ours went out shortly after getting it and making a grinding noise is for sure the motor. Not that hard to replace yourself, but if your not comfortable with it you should have someone do it for you. Motor is not that expensive, I carry an extra with me now.

DX3 rear slide
2015 DX3 BH same issue. I believe the cables can loosen up which causes the slide to get crooked and bind up. RV shop adjusted the cables and I have not had the issue the last 3 years. I had the same temporary fix of having several people push on it and it went back in.

So I guess what I keep coming back to is if its the motor why would it run out perfectly smooth but start raising hell when you try to run it in? Mookie, Joet posted a link above for a motor. Think it was $167.00

JT,
I purchased mine at the same place as the above link. If replacing make sure you have a way to prop up the slide from the outside so that it is level and it makes it much easier.

When slide starts to come in it is pulling at a slightly different angle than when sliding out. Almost like going out it is on a slight down hill and coming in it is slightly up hill. Just enough difference that the motor gears are pulling away from each other.

Hey Dennis thanks for the info.. I'm pretty mech, have replaced slide motors in the past and they are pretty self explanatory but never a cable set up like that. Do you know of any instructions on the process?

Just take your time with it, The video that Joe (Joet19711) has listed is a good one to look at.

Well got in there and replaced it today.. They built the whole coach around that motor.. After getting the drain line for the kitchen sink out of the way it wasn't the worse thing I've ever done but it was close to the top. Just kept thinking how much money I was saving my self...lol
