everyone has their idea of what constitutes a good boon-docking unit.
As Bill has mentioned to me before...he'll go two weeks dry camping in a 24' unit. Its all in how you conserve. If anything the XL is even more equipped.
1. Fresh water: Isata 3: 35 gallons. XL: 90-100 gallons
2. Black tank: Isata 3: 32 gallons. XL: 52 gallons
3. Gray tank: Isata 3: 32 gallons. XL: 52 gallons
4. Batteries: Isata 3: about 200 AH rated XL: 400AH rated, with room for 600 AH.
5. Solar: both are options
6. Fridge: Isata 3 is standard wtih an RV fridge, it is optional on the XL.
I will agree, that the Macerator will make it a little more difficult to dry camp if the water level is not setting properly.
Everything is a trade off however...the bigger the tanks, the less room for storage. We try to find the best balance we can.

Only place the XL needs more storage is interior in kitchen area, the two cabinets overthe Theatre Seating should extend ALL the way above the dinette, across the whole slide adding two additional cabinets, folks slide out of a dinette they don't stand up, this is the way MANY of the RV's are designed and this would definitely be a BIG plus for the XL interior storage for the kitchen...

I wouldnt want to lose more window in the dinette. Plus that is the window you may need if your fridge needs replaced. It is funny how we all have different ideas for the coach, I am happy with the layout we have, made some changes to things I didnt like. I also know the price will increase if they start making individual units more custom. But that is the fun part of the forum, dreaming up new ideas.

Losing partial window view would be minimal view loss if the valances were removed, the extra space with 4-5 children on board would be welcome, both of the units we owned previously had cabinets over the dinette with no issues. We bike, swim, and hike mostly and spend most of our time outdoors, for folks that camp inside their RV 24/7 I can fully understand wanting large windows, we don't and we don't require large windows...the Norcold 1210 is only 24" depth...

FYI I’ll be dry camping for 33 days in August at Hunter Peak Wyoming. It’s at 8000’ so no a/c needed. I’ll keep a log of how it goes and report when I get home. No cell or internet service while I’m there. I have the factory installed satellite dish but don’t have a box or subscription for it. So tv won’t be using up batteries. I do have a 700 watt Keurig coffee pot and a 150 watt crock pot that I use some as they will run off the 1000 watt inverter. As for propane the fridge, blackstone griddle, truma hot water and occasional furnace will be used. It gets down in the 40s at night this time of year so I’ll run the furnace a little in the morning. There is a hand well pump there that I’ll use for extra water for dish washing and will supplement showers with my sun shower. I’ll let everyone know how it it goes.

As for storage in the Isata 3rw it has plenty. I can’t think of any I would add. I have done shelving additions to the existing cabinets though to make them more usable. Oh, I forgot I did add a bookshelf next to the door. The outside storage is huge for such a small RV. The pass through in the rear is great. Lots of room for large light weight items such as lawn chairs.

Correct...we also use that window to get furniture in and out if need be. We stored alot of our bulk food in the dinette. You have the entire based of each side available.
The last (2) places I worked also built them with cabinets over the dinette. I felt like it made the interior feel smaller/tighter.
If you'd like, you can easily have (2) cabinets made up. Then you can remove the valance and hang the cabinet about 2" off of the wall...you can put a shim/block above the window to help support the cabinet from the wall.
Boom, problem solved. Now you have a coach that is custom tuned to the way you specifically camp and who you take. As I've said before...we design based off the masses, not individuals. It works for most...then you need to tweak things to work specifically for the way you camp. If we think it is viable and would appeal to the majority of buyers, we would incorporate it into the main build.
Also, you can get a Dometic powered cooler or a Yeti on a slide. Boom, more fridge space...or, a place to put a lot of the drinks that seem to take up a lot of the space. At the very least, it is temperature controlled storage for food stuffs.
