2019 Isata 3 Awning Stop and Go Retracting & What is best online site to sell RV

1. We were in AZ with our 2019 Isata 3 with the awning open in the heat all day. When we decided to retract it due to the winds it would not fully retract when we hit the switch. We had to keep pushing the switch and it would retract a little each time. We have not opened it back up due to the fear of it not closing again. We had someone tell us this can happen if the sun is shining on the motor all day as it will overheat. Has anyone else experienced this with their awning?

2. We are in the process of preparing to list our 2019 Isata 3 for sale. We have looked at many websites to list it on. We would be appreciative of any recommendations and experiences people have had trying to sell their RV.

RV Trader gets plenty of eyeballs. How I search for new and sold a prior TT.

Note there is a look-alike that is just RVT vice RVTrader.

I sold our 2017 Isata 3 on RV Trader back last year. It’s probably the most used resale site for RV’s. When the dealers all use it you know it gets a lot of traffic.

That seems to be correct advice. It's not unusual to have a thermal cutout on DC motors that kills power when they get hot. A locked-rotor DC motor will otherwise burn out.

Try it on a cooler day--it should be fine.

Regarding the awning.... were you on shore power? Ours gets 'hesitant' when the house batteries are low and not plugged in.

We have had outstanding success selling high ticket items on Craigslist.org. This is a free advertising platform that allows a descriptive ad and 25 pictures. We have sold boats, campers, and vehicles in two states.

The devil is in the details. Detail what is being offered, take a lot of pictures, and write a very detailed description. A good ad will be truthful, stand out from other ads, and get the customer to the door. The item will sell itself. Pricing high will not deter a serious buyer and will not drag out the time it takes to sell. Pricing low and putting OBO (or best offer) in an ad will attract low-ballers.

We sold a 3 yr. old Class C for what we paid for it. It sold the first week to the first caller. The ad was 3 pages long and 25 pictures. The customers thought they had exhausted the market until they read our ad. That is not an exception. Most of what we have sold has been within 3 weeks.

RV Trader. We sold our 2016 Force on there in a little over a week. As noted by other posters, give lots of details and photos. Good luck.

Good advice but be wary of any offers where buyer will send secure check sight unseen and have someone pick it up .

I have had great success buying and selling on RV Trader.

If you end up placing an ad, please attach the link here. Have some friends that are interested in an Isata 3 after seeing ours.

What part of the country do you live in?

A big thank you to everyone for all the helpful information. To follow up on the awning problem we decided to try opening and closing it up as it was cool outside. We found that we had not pushed the switch all the way so it was closing incrementally. Once we pushed the switch all the way it closed just fine.

We are well aware of that scam. It has been a long time since someone tried that. Those responses are reported immediately to craigslist. We use the below closing paragraph that has eliminated nearly all scammers. We require a phone call to set up an appointment and will only provide an address at that time. If we have answered an email and the "buyer" is reluctant to call, sorry, that is our rules.

We had one buyer over 250 miles distant that was paying over $25K cash in hundred dollar bills. We made it clear that he would accompany us to the bank to count the money. We would sign off on the title then. Without telling him directly, we didn't want to be stuck with counterfeit bills. Any other type of payment is first verified.

This is the closing paragraph:

"If interested, please call the phone number listed in "Reply" . We do not accept texting. We may reply to an email very specific to this ad. We will not respond to emails negotiating price or asking if the item is still for sale. If this ad is posted, the (Item) is for sale. We will follow the Covid 19 guidelines at time of showing. Thanks for looking and have a great day!"
