2020 Western Dynamax Owners Gathering

Hi all!

Starting this thread to find out interest for a West side of the US to have a gathering for Dynamax owners.

So far I have been unable to find a camp ground that is of the caliber of the East Coast gatherings.

I have found a couple that would seem to accommodate but not sure.

One is Blackwell Island in Idaho. This is on Lake Coeur d'Alene (mgmt. not very friendly)

The other is The Nugget St. Regis, Montana (mgmt. very friendly) They have several "special events" that sell out quickly. Sites are nice.

Anyone interested can suggest a park. I am not familiar with Southwestern park/campgrounds.

Let the discussion begin!

1. See attached brochure, call to make your own reservation
2. The forum will be the only place I post information regarding the event (I don't do facebook or twitter).
3. Please post on this thread if you are intending to attend and include the campsite you are in.

Disclaimer:
This is not a Dynamax rally or Forest River sponsored event. It is a gathering of interested Dynamax Owners only. Come enjoy yourself in the land where deer and antelope play and meet other owners.

Some notes:
cancellation policy: 24 hours before scheduled arrival $10.00 less than 24 hours first night $45.00

Pet policy: no breed restrictions. Number is not an issue. It is up to owner to cleanup after their furkids.

Unfortunately the pool will be closed.

Hope to see you there!

Would love to go to the Coeur d'Alene area. Here in South Texas the best resort of which I am aware is Buckhorn Lake Resort. The FROG group is there later this year. They host large groups on a regular basis.

Since the Eastern group is usually early Summer due to east side weather, it would be nice to have a “winter” get together someplace warm. I realize that doesn’t work for the Northwest.

I did notice when this year’s gathering moved West, the attendance increased dramatically so I think there is an interest in a Western gathering.

I've been trying to get a suitable location in the Washington / Oregon area without much luck, and someone recently suggested a couple of locations around Coure d'Alene.

I'm also looking for someone to consider hosting an event. I had a couple lined up, but they had to back out.

I looked at Blackwell Island and it looks good. Was this the one you contacted with luke warm reception? With 140 pull through sites 60ft x 40ft that would be great. Good location on the water. Looks to be right across a bridge from Coeur d’Alene. My DW has Coeur d’Alene on her bucket list.

I don't have any campground suggestions, but I'm definitely interested in a West side event.

We would be interested in attending a Western gathering. But don't have a clue for a suggestion. The South Forty RV park in Marysvale, UT is on the Paiute trail for SXS riding. The trail has 2000 miles of riding going up to 12000 feet. SXS rentals are available and river rafting. They have about 70 huge sites but keep fairly busy in the summer. They close down I think in October due to snow etc. https://www.southfortyrvpark.net/ Very friendly owners. In thinking about it this place would be appropriate for a Western setting. Owners are Jim and Teri Peterson. We try to get up there about once a year for riding.

If you are interested in Southern California there are 2 parks we have been to for dune buggy rallies. Both are very nice, with nice amenities and they were super when it came to our event (over 150 RVs and over 400 buggies!) The first is Flying Flags RV Resort in Buelton, CA. It is just south of Solvang a cute Danish tourist town. They have a total of 220 RV sites. The other one is Mammoth Mountain RV park. Of course you don't want to stay there in the winter, Mammoth is a ski resort town, we were there in September. The park is more rustic than Flying Flags but very nice, borders on the forest. Both have pools, hot tubs, and are pet friendly.

I would definitely be interested in attending; however, I have no recommendations re large campgrounds as we normally go to USFS campgrounds or boondock. I live 2 hours from Couer d'Alene. It is a beautiful place, but it does get crowded in July and August. St Regis in Montana is significantly more remote but also beautiful and slightly closer to the Yellowstone, Glacier, etc.

Western group get together

We would definitely be interested in a Western Gathering! My vote would be for either Couer D’Laine or Utah near the ATVs trails.

We stayed at a really nice park with another rally group a few years ago in New Braunfels, Tx that could accommodate all of us. It was on the Guadeloupe River just below Canyon Lake. I can look for the name. They have a huge pavilion and we’re very friendly.

You are thinking of Lazy L&L which is about a mile from my house. I also live on the Guadalupe River. Lazy L&L hosts a lot of large groups. I really would like to travel farther than a mile

Lazy L&L looks promising. I think MILKMAN offered his place for any overflow.

Looking for places in areas that are specifically for activities like ATV or dirt bike riding might just limit your attendance. Look for areas that have a wide variety of things to see or do, a lot of options for restaurants, shopping, perhaps some options for wine tasting, etc.

Sadly I don’t own a Dynamax but as a local I endorse Blackwell Island. I have never stayed here but will comment on the surrounding area.

Just a five minute drive away is the town of Coeur d’alene which is a really nice resort type of town. The Coeur d’alene Resort is close by and has nice shops and restaurants, both causal and fine dining. There is a marina attached with a great boardwalk you can walk around and admire the boats and the lake scenes. The resort has tour boats that are great, both short and all day tours of the lake with meals available on some.

The downtown area is on the smaller side and walking around works fine. Lots of shops and casual restaurants.

The resort has a really upscale golf course with a floating green and the local city course is both affordable and a nice course too.

Up the highway 30 minutes or so away is Silverwood, a top notch amusement park with a waterpark section too.

A couple hours to the east in Kellogg is Silver Mountain ski resort with a really nice gondola ride to the top. The gondola runs year round and has mountain biking available. (Ride the gondola up and coast the bike down) There is a very cool bike trail east of CDA near Wallace (Hiawatha Trail) that runs on an old railroad track right of way that goes over tall bridges and thru tunnels.

Spokane is only 30 minutes away with lots more attractions including some pretty, quality, affordable golf courses.

Anyway, here’s a few ideas and if you have never visited the Inland Pacific Northwest in the summer before you’re in for a treat!

Here's a couple. Just did a search. No nothing else about them. Not necessarly better than those already recommended. Blackwell island looks good.

My DW and I vote for Coeur d’Alene, but if the consensus is South Texas, I would be glad to help coordinate. We are retired and I can spend some time with the organizing. I think in any case we are probably setting a date for 2021 as these resorts normally require a year advance booking for a large group. I think the June gathering blocked 50 sites?
