2021 Isata 3 Diesel Generator Exhaust Question

We have a 2021 Isata 3 24FW with the 3200 Diesel generator option. From the first time we started it up, I've been disappointed in the noise level of this thing. This weekend at the campsite I noticed that the generator was kicking up some dust on the ground. Upon closer inspection, there was a good amount of exhaust shooting downward, kind of from a nonspecific location but from higher up in the muffler cavity, in addition to exhaust coming from the exhaust pipe itself.

This could be expected behavior but it seems a little odd... Can anyone else with this setup confirm if this is the case for them as well? Wondering if this is an exhaust leak or something in that muffler connection area, which is really hard to see without taking the generator out entirely. Advice, ideas welcome.

We have the 2019 version on a 2017 chassis, 3200 diesel generator, and I can't say it kicks up any dust from exhaust leaks or anything like that. It's a diesel and it has a certain rumble, and smell, but I never perceived it as anything but what was normal. Too bad you couldn't set up next to a similar rig and compare.

It sounds like it might have a strong air cooling fan that blows straight down.

I think you could be right. Reading a few other threads it sounds like there's two cooling fans attached to the crank, its just weird that they're pointed down, but maybe thats to be expected given the box around the whole thing.

Maybe someone else with this setup can confirm.

Ge muffler exhaust come out under gen

The pipe fitting might be loose . The gen exhaust pipe goes up into the bottom of the gen where it is clamped. Then it bends 90 degree and there is another hanger to keep it in place shooting out the side.

I would guess your seeing the fan. They are loud compared to the larger diesel generators. It’s a single cylinder engine and They do make some noise. When I had mine(2017 Isata3RW) I insulated the door on the coach and the front panel of the generator itself with Dynamat and that helped. It’s the engine itself that is loud not the exhaust. I also installed a GenTuri to help with the smell.

I think you're right, just surprised how much downforce of air is coming out, parking on sand or dust is definitely an issue. Will look into the dynamat and also investigating the resonator as well.

I added a resonator to mine but didn’t notice a significant noise reduction.
