21 Force HD leveling jacks make loud creaking when retracting

When I raise my leveling jacks they make loud creaking sounds like they are straining and the entire coach shakes. This is always, and doesn't depend on how level or solid the surface is I've parked on. It feels like it mostly the rears, but haven't determined that for sure. And it appears to be more than one jack. They extend normally and quietly other than the pump. And they do fully retract, just noisily. It's actually noisy enough, it turns heads nearby.

It happens on mine occasionally. Seems to happen more if I have dumped the rear air before leveling. The sound can be a little disconcerting at times. I have Snap Pads on the feet so I don’t get the noise of the metal pads slipping on the surface like I did before I installed them. Mine sounds more like the shafts being dry and then the seals rubbing on the metal shafts as they retract. Never has seemed to affect the operation of the levelers though.

Yes. I'd agree it sounds more like the shafts than pad slippage. But I haven't had the opportunity to actually watch while they are raising. Next time I'll auto raise and scoot out and watch. Haven't gotten snap pads yet.

Thanks for posting that thread. I probably would have never found it if I tried. Good stuff.

While it may not tell you what it will fix (I'll see if they can add that to the manual), the instructions are on page 7 of the manual

I've been thinking about the Snap Pads to eliminate the metal scraping noise. Are you satisfied with the Snap Pad performance?

Thanks

Love ‘em. Added advantage is not having to carry the plastic pads to put under the jacks when on softer ground or in RV parks that require pads of some sort. First thing I put on the 2021 XL when we traded the 2018. Had them on that one as well. Once you put them on there is no removing. At least not for reuse on another coach.

Good to hear! I'll get them on order now that I don't have to be concerned about them falling off.

Thanks
