28ss Water Pump Location?

The water pump is making a lot of noise now, far more than a year ago. I want to check the filter and mounting screws, but I can’t find the pump… and feel a bit ridiculous about it!

The pump sounds like it is located beneath the carpeted step on the right hand side of the bed (if I’m facing it) right over the water bay. I have two questions:

1) Does anyone know for sure where it is located, and
2) How do you access the pump without damaging the flooring?

There should be screws (magnet might be the easiest way to find them) that screws the carpeted top down to the base.
