Accent Lighting 2.0

I like the accent lighting in these coaches, but I thought it would be better for it to be RGB LED strips. So I went and removing all the LED strips and replaced with RGB roll cut to fit each area. I also added lighting underneath the recliner slideout area, as well as retrofitted it into the little light under the dinette. Then I put each room area on its own controller zone so that I could control the colors for the living room, bedroom and bathroom separately. This allows us to just leave red lighting on at night in the bathroom if someone needs to get up and use it without turning on brighter lights.

I also removed the bed overhead lights because I hated them. We don't read in bed, we do other things. Replaced them with RGB pucks that are zone controlled as well:

The controllers I picked can also be connected to Alexa as well, because I am nerdy like that.

Total time for the upgrade was about 5 hours. The hardest part is getting the new wiring through the existing cabinet holes.

If anyone else wants to do the same, here are links to what I used:
-6 RGB controllers: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096VN3CL9
-RGB LED roll (but I didn't use the remote that came with them): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CD1VXM6R
-Additional wiring to reach controllers: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C81JXJGD
-Bed overhead lights: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CG936TRV

Nice! Wife said I shouldn't do that because it might annoy other people. Which just makes me want to do it more.

Tomorrow I am going to work on switching the awning lighting to RGB as well.

We do a lot of boondocking. They aren't overwhelming unless they are set to flashing.

Would love to hear how you replaced the awning lights. We hate the bright white light at night. It would be nice to have a warm light instead.

I don't think anyone did the awning lights, OP did his interior, I have underlighting. I am sure somebody has done them in a Carefree repair, they are basic strips as long as you stick to a one color solution you can use the existing 2 wires on the awing can. RGB solutions require 4-5 wires. You can also dim your existing awning lights, but that of course will not change the color, just make them less bright if that is what you are after.

In post #4 the OP said his next lighting project was changing the awning lights to RGB. That’s what I was referring to. My awning lights do not dim, unfortunately. Wish they did. It would help.

Sorry Mojo, missed that note. Doing a swap to a lower kelvin strip that is a single color like you want to do will be pretty straight forward, there are a few Carefree related how to videos on Youtube for failed factory ones to follow. DWs RGB quest will be more involved, but he is techie and will figure it out.

We have Girard awnings. Maybe I will contact Girard and see if they can give me some guidance on changing the LED strip.

Joe, If Girard cannot help, call Boogey Lights in Kentucky. I am sure you can slip that light out of the channel to measure it. They may have a replacement in warm white instead of the cool white.
