Air ride problems

2006 Dynamax Isata 282Our maiden voyage in our new to us RV. The pump for the air ride won’t shut off but it never airs all the way up. We manually added air through the valve stems in the rear wheel wells. The system held the air pressure right up until we started the engine to drive away. There was an immediate air dump and we were back to square one. We can’t find the air pump/compressor shut off or breaker or fuse to turn it off. We had the manual fill at 80 psi. Any ideas or help appreciated. We are stranded about 350 miles from home and really needed to be home for work tomorrow.

Is there an air dump on the dash somewhere? I know some models were equipped with them. May be set to dump

Sounds like a leak in an air line or at the pump. The pump could be up under a frame rail, like below the cab area, or on the fire wall or in the engine compartment. When the pump is running try to find it by following the sound. I've had similar systems and they are usually installed on the truck frame. Once you find the pump look for leaks, if it has a check valve (that would explain draining your pressure after 'shore' filling) maybe that's stuck? If the pump has an air filter clean that out while you are trouble shooting. Worst case after you find the pump brand is you replace the air pump. Good luck.

P.S. Oh, and to get home today, once you find the pump if nothing else cut the wire.

All, Thanks for the trouble shooting responses. Some valve had busted and the lines were leaking air. We were able to find a mechanic to replace the valve and all was good after.
