Allison shift pad selector removal

Curious if anyone has removed this to replace it? Does it pop out or do you have to disassemble the dash ?

I had it out a few years ago to do the carbon fiber on the dash. I believe I took the dash apart and then you will see how it comes out. I dont remember it being hard, the hardest thing to remove from the dash is the air suspension dump switch.

I had mine apart not long ago. The plastic wood grain comes off easily with some obvious torx screws. I didn't take the shifter panel out, but I think I recal some torx holding that in, which you will have to remove the plastic dash covering to get to. Ten minute job. Why do you need to replace it?

I went to start up the rig and got a check transmission light . The shift pad came up with cat eyes . I had a friend put a diagnostic tool on it and it came up with code U0103 - lost communication with gear shift module 1.
I researched it and it said most likely bad shift pad, bad wiring, or bad ecu/tcm .
Found a shift pad and swapped it out. Didn’t fix it. So I’m looking at a bad wire or Tcm I think .

Coming from my industry working on many vehicles, Espically electric vehicles, I can tell you 90% of the time it’s the wire and not the module when somthibg like this happens. Never replace modules before checking wiring and connectors.
