Anyone replace the grey tank on an M2?
Our brand new 2021 DX3 37TS hit town on Friday and the dealer has discovered a leak in the grey tank. The dealer says they will patch the existing tank and get a new one coming under warranty. My hunch right now is that the factory put a fastener into the tank, but I don't know yet. We have yet to close on the coach.
I have watched this coach and others being built and I can't imagine just how they would get the old one out and the new one in. Any thoughts?

It just drops down and we slide it, end first. We do have to disconnect the pipes, but even if we have to cut pipes, we can put a flexible connector on later. It's not a 5 minute job, but it is also not impossible.

I would also hesitate to assume what it might be. Could be the connection into the top of the tank which is easier to correct. Though I would have to dig into the VIN to see what the issue actually is.

Yes I could have withheld judgement until I knew for sure. My bad.
If it is connection on top, however, that may not warrant replacement however.
This coach hasn't been purchased by us yet so I am getting my information from the sales staff and not the mechanics so it is all second hand.

Do you know the last (6) of the VIN? I'll see if there is a pic in the file.

Hey the good news is at least you know that your dealer is doing a good PDI of the unit since they found the leak. Just be ready there will always be small minor things that need repaired/replaced, like they say it is a rolling earthquake on wheels.

Just a side note, that is not the VIN. that appears to be the last (6) of our serial number.
Serial Number is DXC004718 (technically part of the Forest River VIN, but no one uses that on motorhomes, we track by the chassi VIN)
Last (6) of the Chassis VIN is MX5399
So far there is nothing in the file, so likely too new to even have received any communication from the dealer.
Edit: looks like an order was placed for a gray tank though.

I talked to the service manager and the mechanic doing the PDI. They showed me where the tank was leaking. The leak was caused by a hanger digging into the tank. The hanger is either too long at the hook or the tank didn't have the proper shape to prevent the damage.
The plan is to epoxy the existing tank and get a new tank on order from the factory. The leak is near the top of the tank so I think the epoxy should hold for a time.
The image appears upside-down for some reason. Sorry.

Hanger and shape are actually fine. These are rotational molds, they turn to make sure material flows into all the necessary spots. Sometimes, based on the shape of that area, they do not get material to flow in properly, so it just ends up too thin in that area (which is what this looks like). Happens from time to time, especially if they are trying to rush. We normally catch them pretty early.

Might help to have an isolator on the end of the strap.

That being the case, the mechanics intention to use epoxy may not be that effective for a temporary fix.
