AVS400BT Outside Stereo: Defective?

When I plug any iPhone into the unit via USB port it will not "connect". It just keep saying "Load" and beeping. It won't charge the iPhone either. Is this a defective unit or are they still making stereos that aren't compatible with iPhone these days?

Also, when I play a DVD the colors are way off. Could this just be that the RCA cable isn't all the way in the jack on the TV? I checked the stereo end of the cable and that is plugged in.

The TV works fine for DIRECTV and OTA viewing.

My comments may not resolve your issue but worth mentioning.

The newer the iPhone the more selective the are for non Apple connectors. Even "Apple Certified " cords may not work. Usually the non charging problem can be resolved by using a newer Apple cord.

Crappy or damaged USB ports are a known issue. I know a lady that destroys USB ports and wires by twisting while inserting. I know another lady that destroys USB cords by bending the ends.

I bought a long $30 Apple cord for lady #1 that still would not charge her phone until I reset the tripped inverter. Should have checked that first.

The USB port on my coach stereo does not work.

Is the beeping coming from your your phone or the radio?

My outside AVS400BT had a problem, I called riverpark support phone line, tried to resolve and then they sent out a replacement exchange under warranty. Great Customer service.

I've had absolutely zero luck getting the USB port to do anything but charge. Nice thing is the Bluetooth works awesome so I just use that

I’d be happy if it just charged. I’m using the Bluetooth and realized it wasn’t charging.

When a poked my head into the cabinet to see if I could get to the RCA video cable I noticed that the outlet for the TV is right behind it. I may end up plugging in a charger there and dropping the cable in behind the TV.

I had replaced mine with a Pioneer media player. It would play the TV etc... over the speakers and had bluetooth. It also had a charging USB port on the front.

I am researching new units for the new HD. I think I am going to patch all those extra holes in the cabinet behind the tv and spray speaker carpet over the black metal. I saw it on a Renegade, looked really nice.

Let me know what you find. The speaker carpet sounds like a good idea. No pun intended. [emoji16]
Is it applied to the front or the back?

The one I saw would cover the front, so it would go under the speakers and behind the TV, you would see the carpet instead of the black metal. Would cover all of the holes etc.... too.

This isnt exactly what I had seen, but it is close. You can see it cleans it up a little with the carpeting.

The phone must be paired before the BT option would show up. Had to call to get info, but it all works great now, really good tech support!

I like the idea of finishing the area with carpet. I've been wanting to enclose the back of the speakers to get a little better sound and isolate the coach from the sound of the outside TV. It's on my list...

I will probably add "Boom Mats" speaker cups, easy to install and should help with the sound on the speakers, also protects them from dust etc... that may get on them from behind.

Pretty cheap fix, the carpet and spray glue on Amazon is about $30, boom mat cups are less than $10 for 2.

I have the AVS500BT and it’s stuck on calling. (See picture). I’ve taken the face off ( out of cradle) hoping that would reset it, but it did not. Pushing band button does nothing. How do I get it back to the TV setting so I can hear the TV again?

Try removing all power (unplug power plug) for a couple minutes. Mine was in a weird state and that reset everything.

Put the new AVS500BT in. Same issue. Plays DVD’s in black & white and won’t charge the iPhone. Tried various settings but nothing got it to do color. Any suggestions?
