Awning woes...thoughts?

So we have a 2019 XL 37RB...great news 2 awnings...bad news two units to maintain.

Right now I'm having trouble with the rear awning not extending. I can hear the motor rotating (in and out) but the actual awning only extends occasionally. When it does extend, I can hear the motor with no extension, then it shoots out a couple of feet and stops again, then shoots out again until it's all the way out.

I'm just now able to get on the roof (new ladder) so I plan to climb up and have a look. I had a read through the installation and user manual so it could be a simple motor or gear adjustment and/or sensor adjustment.

My front awning both extends and retracts consistently but makes an awful noise while doing it...haven't tried putting some silicon lube on the joints yet.

Thoughts and experience with troubleshooting and repairs?

Cheers,

On a previous camper I had we had an awning that would not come out from the camper til you gave it a tug at the bottom of the C channel. It was tight against the framework mounted to the trailer. If that is an issue you can slightly widen the C Channel and see if that helps. Mine would unwind then shoot off til the tarp was tight again.

Not sure if it is the same model awning as the DX3, but I would verify that the support rails are not somehow binding due to misalignment at the lead rail.

Might be worthwhile to verify some simple measurements first as I noted in my recent post "Awning on DX3 Shifted & Needs to be Re-centered?"

I wrestled with this for a while trying to figure out what was going on. When I started taking measurements and drawing it out, then it became more clear to me what was going on with mine.

Thanks. Much appreciated. I've read your other post and will check that out on my rig. I bet this is the issue. If not, once I figure it out I'll post up my findings and corrective action.

Cheers,
