Awnings that won't rip at ends!

Awnings that won't rip at ends!

Not a Dynamax issue, from what I see ALL awnings eventually rip on the ends where they connect to the coach. Im looking for some stronger awning material. I don't care what it costs, I just want something military grade that will last.

I still consider having an awning material made that has an embedded 3/32 aircraft cable on the ends, that would prevent the tearing issue.

Sitting in the sun rolled up will damage it. Fabricate something with vinyl rain gutter or this

My awning did the same, ripped on the ends. I put Gorilla RV awning tape on it however the damage is done as it now sags. It did not peel or anything like that.

ToughTopAwnings makes stronger fabric. You measure, they make and ship it, you install it. Or they have dealers to do it all. I had them on my Discovery.

Several years ago I saw the metal awning covers being offered. Shading the awning while rolled up seemed like a very good idea.
I chose to run 8 inch Eternabond along the inside edge of both my slide topper and my awning. Pretty thoroughly covers the top and outside edge of the awning and topper rolls. So far - several years later - my topper and awning have held up perfectly.
FYI, Jim

Good info, thanks. I considered using Eternabond however Being its designed for a solid application, I refrained.

The active element of Eternabond is a really sticky, flexible adhesive caulk. It's thick enough that it stays sticky forever--and develops a visible coat of dirt and crud. In visible, fixed (non-flexing) applications, their literature advises you to run a bead of a caulk that dries (e.g., acrylic), for aesthetic reasons. That won't work as well on an awning.
