I can tell you from personal experience...I drove 1000 miles in an E450, in Alberta. In December. They don't plow the roads in the ski zones, they just throw dirt on them and I never had one single issue. Just the weight of the rig and dually wheels...its not going anywhere. I'd say an M2 is even more capable.

I'd honestly be scared of the trouble if he attempted to get in with 4x4

Thanks for that BC. We're leaving next week crossing the Siskiyou's and I've always had a 4x4. Weather is very unpredictable.

High crosswind with the M2's and locker in rear CAN cause rear end drift...thats on ice, snow, heavy rain...slow down and don't gouge the accelerator to where it would break rear wheels loose then you would be be fine...

Have pulled my 17,000#+ Toyhauler out on the sand dunes many times, only got stuck once at night, just because it was dark and I drove into some loose sand...took a shovel dug out from all the wheels, emptied the grey tank water in front of rear tires and drove right out...I did air down the tires on the truck and RV, the M2 is actually impressive off road for a stiff framed over weight truck...the 8.9L is going to be heavier than the engine I had (MBE 926), so that is a factor as well off road....
