Carefree awning "Ripping at end" thread.

It seems this happens to EVERY carefree awning. Please post if this has happened to you.

Mine ripped at the front edge and worked its way in. Re-stiching the awning worked until we retracted it, and it rips immediately. It seems the issue is, if the fabric doesnt wind in even front-to-back, when it retracts it will try to keep moving in, and rip the awning.

Example, my front went to the end of retraction and the back still had a few inches to go to be completely closed, and it just kept winding, ripping the front.

EVERY, and i mean EVERY single person that has this awning i have spoke to has had the exact same issue. I want to start a thread about this, and ill bring a printout over to carefree's office in a few days and see what they have to say in person.

Those patches work great, the issue isnt patching it...its why it rips. Patch it and it will rip again.

Same issue 2018 DX3. The original awning ripped and a brand new replacement cloth ripped the 3rd time it was opened.

Same here, on a 2019 DX3. I had the awning fabric replaced for ~$1,200, hoping it won't rip out again. This awning design is just a couple notches above worthless. In addition to this problem, it is very unstable in even the lightest wind.
