Child carseat / LATCH system?

Hello all,

Wife and I have a 3 month old and have been traveling quite a bit in our new 2021 DX3. Currently what I'm doing is taking the back cushion out of the rear dinette seat, feeding the belt through the base (it doesn't get very tight though) and docking by jamming the carseat down onto the base with some extra oomph (table is raised at normal position). It's fairly secure.

However, I'm hoping for a little bit more secure solution. What are you all doing for this common situation? I'd love to hear if maybe there's an aftermarket solution to installing a LATCH system (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isofix)

Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks!

We have carried our grandson in our RV since we first bought one in 2017. We always just used the lap belt to secure the car seat in either rear facing and later forward facing. We went through two different car seats and both worked with the lap belt through the frame of the car seat.

The shoulder and lap constraints in the car seat are what keeps the child secure. I think the car seat just needs to be reasonably tight in the bench seat to keep them safe.

I don’t see how a latch system could be configured and have it secured to the frame. The height of the seat above the frame just makes it impractical and there is nothing at the bench height that would provide an adequate anchor. As you probably know the RV industry is exempt from Latch, so that’s why we see just the lap belts.

Our grandson just turned 5 and 50 lbs and now used a booster seat with the lap belt. I certainly would prefer there was a shoulder restraint, but nothing in an RV is solid enough to support a shoulder strap.

A 3 month old sits in a rear facing car seat, right?
There must be a solution and the dealer you bought it from might know the easiest way to secure that carseat.

I'm with you. I'm not neurotic like it needs to be a perfect installation. Was just curious since I figured it was a common question and concern.
