I’ll add I’ve used full lock turn radius to get out of multiple tight spots.
Comparing notes with a wheeling buddy in a 45’ DP he noted he needs 5 lanes for a i turn!! No thank you!

I wonder if the giant front wheel wells are making it looked raked to some?

Has anyone ever measured before to see if there is any rake or not? Also could someone please measure height to bottom of receiver hitch please?

I think if you search for my hitch modification thread it has before and after measurements. I know the mod raises it up 3.5" higher.
If you want to permanently raise the rear height you can adjust the rear airbag air control mechanism I am working on a mod that will allow you to raise the rear X inches using the spare option button on the dash. Just to raise to clear tail dragging into a driveway, etc

Thanks Randy. Searching for the thread now. Still not closed our deal yet. Still working on the seats Dangit.
That mod you working on would be nice. I knew you could figure that out. When you say I could raise the rear permanently, I’m only talking a couple inches max. Is something freightliner would do you think?
Edit::: Found thread. You said you got 4” more clearance. That’s a lot. Good work.

wheel base ratio
Just to confirm Bruce's statements there are a variety of factors to consider. We just drove the majority of California One in our 2-month-old Isata 30FW. This road is quite narrow and has some extremely tight vision impaired corners, and I felt very comfortable driving it. The 32 ft I 5 30fw has a ratio of 61.8%. Our previous 37+ ft Alpine had a good ratio, but the length plus the 6+ ft front overhang made it difficult to keep the front out of the opposing lane and the rear wheels out of the ditch. But, it was a beautiful freeway driver. But one trip on CA 1 was the last trip on it. This is but one example of why we downsized.

So I am asking the same. Why the huge front clearance of the fender above the steer tires? Probably a Freightliner standard build. The DX3 would "look" better with that gap being smaller (my opinion). It would also eliminate the optical appearance of a rear rake.
What do you guys think. And Brian a comment would be appreciated.

I did answer this a while back (right after the rally), but it would take me longer to find it then just answer it where.
I asked my Freightliner rep and he said they use that block just like we use axle shims...to level the ride height. Unlike a small car...I'm guessing their tolerances are just like construction "close" is good enough.
Some require it some don't, but it levels the ride height, front to back. begs the question...maybe once we load it up, that would not be needed any more. Whoa knows. Nothing I am going to touch, I can tell you that.

Thank you Brian!
You even answered what would have been the follow on question. (in red)
It does however elude to yet a third question. lol
After "load it up" the rear air suspension will auto level ride height UNLESS the air bag reaches max extension or height control rod needs adjusting after coach build. hmmm
But as I said in a previous post. In ready to go trim (aired up all systems "GO") the coach APPEARS to have a rear rake but a 4 foot level set on floor says the coach is dead level. so it must be an optical affect.
Do you have an option for a "California forward rake, a D14, with twice pipes on the side?

The California rake is something I discussed with another DX-3 owner and she told me she had a shop install 2” spacers under and above the air bags for a total of 4” lift. Her rig was on the jacks so I couldn’t see what the visual effect really was. It seems that this would put more load on the front axle which could affect handling, tire wear and might even exceed the weight rating for the front axle.

I can only say we have the DX3 37ts and just love it. I don't want to jink myself but we literally have had no problems and it's almost a year old. We are living in it now for a few months while we finish building a new house and then unfortunately are going have to sell it when the house is done. I know we will miss it but it truly think it's worth the money to buy something of this quality as we have had many other rvs over the years.
