Crack in roof

Sad day. I was up on the roof of our 2022 I3RW installing a new solar panel. Only second time I've been up there. Found a crack. Feels like a screw head pushing up. I put a piece of Eternabond tape over it.

Happy part of the day, the new solid solar panel (200 watt Renogy) really works well. It's an overcast day here in northern San Diego county and according to my Victron its putting out about double what the 190 watt flexible panel puts out.

Just wondering if anyone knows what would be sticking up from the roof joist that would cause the crack? I was under the impression you could walk on the roof.

It might help others to know where your crack in the roof is located.
The best would be if you attach a few photos…….from far, then closer then closer.
We have no idea where on the roof your trouble is located.

The crack is at the crown of the roof. It is circled in red in both pictures.

Excellent photos and references for its position.

Now…..does the exact location on your ceiling inside have anything there that corresponds with this location?

If there’s absolutely nothing inside at this location, I would hazard to guess that something (construction debris) of some small size got caught underneath them applying the one piece fibreglass roof.

It wouldn’t be the first time. Only an x-ray camera could tell us what it might be.

BTW…..I wouldn’t say you’re supposed to party on the roof, but from tours on the assembly line, I know there’s been people walk on the roofs of these motorhomes. I’ve walked mine during inspection a couple of times a year….albeit I own a Sunseeker, not a Dynamax.

That is likely a fastener pop. We screw down the decking to the joists. Likely a fastener ended up popping up. While you could cut that area out and remove the screw, then seal....you might just be better off covering that area with some eternabond tape. Or seal it and add another solar panel.

Thanks Brian, I went ahead and Eternabond taped it. I will avoid stepping there now.
