Dead batteries, no power inside coach
So the breaker got turned off to the coach and today when I went to check on it found it dead. Turned the breaker back on, have power to coach but the only thing that comes on is the light behind the steps. Seems like this happened once before and after a day or so of the power being back on to the coach the batteries charged back up and everything was back to normal. Being plugged into shore power and with dead batteries should everything be dead?

It real easy for things to turn into a pumpkin when that happens. I just went thru something similar.
Check your chassis batteries. I used the jumper studs off the drivers side of the engine. My chassis battery read only 5v. Would not accept a charge. New batteries.
Still had problems. The B.I.R.D. was fried and the solonoid next to the B.I.R.D was bad. Replaced all that.
Radio had no power. Blown fuse in the same area as the bird.
Trouble shoot all the above was beyond my ability. Got help from a mobile tech.
First make sure your chassis battery is charged. Then go from there.
Good Luck

If the inverter doesnt have 12v to get started it won't sense the 120v or do anything with it. If you think the batteries are ok I'd try jumper cables, a pack or trickle charger to get the inverter going.

Depending on how dead they are the booster to connect to chassis batteries may be enough to get things going. Iirc it needs to see at least 10v to get going

What is happening is they are severely discharged, once they are dead they won’t recharge. Most automatic chargers wont respond to a severely discharged battery. Carrying a small manual charger can sometimes be handy. If that happens too many times they won’t recover.

This happened to me also.
Don't know if yours is same but verify there is a power led lit on both the
B I R D and the magnum auto start controller (generator auto start unit). If you do not have power leds on these two devices there is a blown in line fuse buried in that mess of cables in the electric bay.

start the coach and let it run for a bit, this will fool the charger into thinking that the batteries are ok,and it will start charging

I am curious why your genny didn't kick on when the batteries got low.
Your ags must have been shut off or the 12 sense line to the ags has a blown fuse in it. Do verify that you have green led lights on both the BIRD and the AGS controller.

Good point. On mine there was a 5A in line fuse to the AGS that was blown from the BIRD.

FWIW I havent used my AGS in 4 years after it decided to run the generator for 12 hours unexpectedly. Smart battery management is easy enough (save for these unexpected instances) but I still prefer to decide when my generator fires.

However, if your rig is plugged into power and you have a situation like the op had, your genny will cycle on occasion. This would be heard by you (assuming storage is local) that there is something not right going on. Yes, it will burn some fuel but just might save you suddenly having shot batteries.

For sure. That's a use case I've never had. It's always been stored 2 hrs away. Easy enough to shut everything down for longer storage or sometimes between trips when I leave the fridge on I rely on the batteries to bridge any outages. Sure as hell dont want the generator running indoors. I'd be more interested in a connected power monitor tbh

Mine is plugged in at my house and I still do not use the AGS, I do not want
the generator to start, unless I want it to. I also have the inverter disabled as well, do not need that to take over if the power goes out.
that on either

Stored inside, didn't want it firing off inside my shop. I'd rather take my chances with shot batteries..
